Mission

The Uniform Patrol Division of the Morgan City Police Department is considered the backbone of the department with regards to the continuing fight against crime within our city.  The Uniform Patrol Division is divided into four patrol shifts, which work twelve-hour patrol shifts.  The Uniform Patrol Division works all accidents, provides traffic control, answers calls for service, investigates misdemeanor and felony cases, assists the small animal control officer after hours, in addition to numerous other duties and responsibilities.

Lieutenant Jimmy Richard has served the Morgan City Police Department since 1996. Lieutenant Richard is presently assigned as a shift commander and currently has two shifts under his command. Lieutenant Richard has performed many duties within the Morgan City Police Department including Patrol, Narcotics, and Sergeant.

Lieutenant Kenneth LaCoste has served the Morgan City Police Department since 1997. Lieutenant LaCoste is presently assigned as a shift commander and currently has two shifts under his command. Lieutenant LaCoste has performed many duties within the Morgan City Police Department including Patrol, Narcotics, Detectives, and Sergeant.  Lieutenant LaCoste is also a State of Louisiana P.O.S.T. firearm instructor  and Defensive Tactics instructor which helps maintain training standards within the department.
