Troy Watson, 57 years of age, Address-Headland St., Morgan City, LA, was arrested on 5/22/2020 at 8:39 A.M.

Warrant: Attempted Second Degree Murder

Morgan City Police Department responded to a call of a shooting on Headland St. Upon officer's arrival, they located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The suspect was identified as Troy Watson and was detained on the scene by officers. During the investigation, an arrest warrant was secured for the arrest of Watson by investigators. He was placed under arrest and incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department.

Officers were called to a Third St. residence due to removing a subject.  Officers located the subject walking near the residence.  During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect Brett Sanders had committed a battery at the residence.  Sanders was also in possession of a bag that was searched after officers were given consent.  Officers located a small zip lock bag that contained suspected Marijuana along with pills.  Officers also located suspected Synthetic Marijuana on Sanders.  Sanders was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.

Officers were called to an address on Railroad Ave. for a disturbance. Upon officer's arrival, they came into contact with Eric S. Gaskins. A warrant check revealed the Morgan City Police Department held active warrants for his arrest. After the officer's investigation, Gaskins was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Nelson Abraham Ortega, 43 years of age, Address-Roderick St., Morgan City, LA., was arrested on 5/15/2020 at 4:06 P.M.

Warrant: Sexual Battery
                Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile 

Nelson Abraham Ortega was located at the Morgan City Police Department and placed under arrest on an active warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from a complaint filed with the Morgan City Police Department on May 9th, 2020. During the investigation, investigators learned Nelson A. Ortega inappropriately touched a female victim under the age of 13. Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Ortega. He was booked and incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department.

David Langston, 43 years of age, Address-Willie Redden Road, Greensburg, LA, was arrested on 5/15/2020 at 6:49 P.M.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving reckless in the area of Highway 182. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, at which time the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle fled to North Second St. and came to a stop at a residence. The officer was able to take Langston into custody and place him under arrest. A computer check revealed St. Helana Parish Sheriffs Office held an active warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jeffery Lee Vasold Jr., 34 years of age, Address-Second St., Morgan City, LA, was arrested on 5:50 P.M.

Officers were called to a local business on Railroad Ave. about a person asleep in a vehicle. Upon officer's arrival, they discovered Jeffery Lee Vasold asleep in the vehicle. Upon officers waking up Vasold, officers observed he was in an intoxicated condition. During the investigation, officers discovered several stolen items in his vehicle. Owners of the property were contacted and verified the items were stolen. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Officers were called to a Fifth St. residence about a burglary. Upon the officer's arrival, the victim reported he was struck in the back of the head with an object while walking into his residence. He advised the officers the suspect stole $188.00 and fleed on foot. Officers attempted to stop an individual matching the description on Egle St. The individual fled on foot from officers. Officers were captured and identified the individual as Gilbert I Harrison. Officers located the $188.00 stolen from the victim in Harrison's possession. Officers also located suspected synthetic Marijuana, Ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia. He was located within a posted drug-free zone and was additionally charged. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Josue avilez
Josue B. Avilez-Ortiz, 27 years of age, Address-Chennault St., Morgan City, LA, was arrested on 5/9/2020 at 8:20 P.M.

Charge: Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense)

Officers investigating a crash at the intersection of Seventh St. and Brashear Ave., identified one of the driver's as Josue B. Avilez-Ortiz. The officer suspected driver impairment and gave him a Field Sobriety Test. He did poorly on the test and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and given an intoxilyzer test. He gave a breath sample of 0.142g%. He was booked into the Morgan City Police Department.
Javien Jawan Francis, 23 years of age, Address-Oregon St., Berwick, LA, was arrested on 5/9/2020 at 9:38 P.M.

Warrants: Failure to Appear (4 Counts)
                  Possession of Methamphetamine

Officers came into contact with Javien J. Francis in the area of Seventh St. and Brashear Ave. A warrant check revealed the Morgan City Police Department and City Court of Morgan City held active warrants for his arrest. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Officers were called to a residence on Bush St. for a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they came into contact with Alonzo Bennett. A warrant check revealed St. Mary Sheriffs Office held an active warrant for his arrest. During the investigation, Bennett was found in possession of a firearm. A computer check revealed he was a convicted felon. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Officers observed he was in an intoxicated and learned he had committed a battery on a person with disabilities.
