On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at approximately 7:49 P.M., the Morgan City Police Department received a call of a vehicle crash on Highway 182 in the area of Aycock St.
The initial investigation revealed a 2004 Dodge Ram dually pickup truck, driven by 40-year-old Juan Tapia-Gutierrez, left the roadway striking a utility pole and several parked vehicles in a parking lot on private property.

Juan Tapia-Gutierrez and the passenger were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment by Acadian Ambulance. The passenger later succumbed to his injures. The passenger's identification is currently being withheld until notification to the next of kin.

Investigators suspected driver impairment and obtained a blood sample for toxicology from the driver Juan Tapia-Gutierrez.

Juan Tapia-Gutierrez was later released from the hospital and placed under arrest by the Morgan City Police Department and was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.

Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division initiated an investigation after seeing videos via social media of a large fight that had occurred at a local alcohol establishment in the area of Brashear Ave. on September 11, 2021. During the investigation Andrea Bellard, Tristan Montet, Derrick J. Gros, Tyson Jobert, Tyler M. Richard, and Brennan Michael Acosta were identified as being involved in the fistic encounter. Arrest warrants were obtained for the parties involved. Bellard, Montet, Gros, Joubert, Richard, and Acosta all presented their selves to the Morgan City Police Department Warrants Division where they were arrested and booked. The investigation is ongoing in an attempt to identify more patrons involved.
