MCPD Arrest Report 01/04/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 32 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 01/03/2018:

Freddie Sellers, 27 years of age, address: Keith St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/03/2018 @ 1:20 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Trial on 11/27/2017
                 Warrant: Fugitive (East Baton Rouge Parish S.O.)
                 Resisting an Officer

Freddie Sellers was located and arrested in the area of Aycock St. on active arrest warrants held by the 16th Judicial Court and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. When officers came in contact with Sellers he fled on foot. Sellers was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody. Sellers was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Burkin J. Dupre, 32 years of age, address: Fifth St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/03/2018 @ 4:26 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Review on 12/19/2017 (3 counts)

Burkin J. Dupre was located and arrested in the area of Seventh St. on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Dupre was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

James Nicholas, 40 years of age, address: Barrow St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/03/2018 @ 10:50 p.m.

Charges:  Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Patrol officers responded to the area of Fourth St. in regards to an intoxicated subject. Officers arrived and James Nicholas was identified. According to reports, Nicholas was found to be in an intoxicated state. Nicholas was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Hope Chettiyar 01042018

Hope Chettiyar, 39 years of age, address: Kentucky St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/04/2018 @ 12:03 a.m.

Charges: Warrant: Theft under $1,000
                 Warrant: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
                 Improper Lighting

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Florence St. with improper lighting. A stop was initiated and Hope Chettiyar was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Chettiyar was found to hold active arrest warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on March 27, 2017, when the victim alleged that Chettiyar took several items from their residence along with a vehicle. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Chettiyar’s arrest. Chettiyar was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Chrisjana R. Seals, 27 years of age, address: Halsey St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/04/2018 @ 3:06 a.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Review on 11/29/2017

Chrisjana R. Seals was located and arrested the area of Hwy 182 on an active arrest warrant held by the 16th Judicial Court. Seals was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Caitlynn Ackerman, 20 years of age, address: Hwy 182 Morgan City, La., arrested on 01/04/2017 @ 04:50 a.m.

Charges: Driving under Suspension
                 Improper Lighting

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of LA 182 with improper lighting. A stop was initiated and Caitlynn Ackerman was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Ackerman’s Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. Ackerman was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
