MCPD Arrest Report 02/08/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 36 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 02/07/2018:

Roderickmug
 

Roderick A. Hunter, 26 years of age, Address- Apple St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 2:10 pm.

Charge:    Warrant- Simple Battery
                 Warrant- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
                 Warrant- Obstruction of Highway

   Roderick Hunter was transported from the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville, La. to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the department. Simple battery warrant stems from an incident in April of 2016, which alleges that Hunter committed a battery on an individual.  The vehicle theft stems from an incident in October of 2016, in which Hunter is alleged to have stolen a vehicle from the Garber St. area.  The warrant for obstruction of a highway stems from an incident also in October of 2016; that alleges Hunter tried to gain entry into the victim’s vehicle while stopped at a red light on Hwy 182. Hunter was booked on all charges and incarcerated.

Hope Chettiyar, 39 years of age, Address- Kentucky St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:51 pm.

Kyarius Williams, 17 years of age, Address- Freret St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:51 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                Violation of Uniform CDS- Drug-Free Zone
                Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of Person under 17 years of age

               
Drake Boudreaux, 18 years of age, Address- Kentucky St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:51 pm.

Laniya Grogan, 18 years of age, Address- Cardinal St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:51 pm.

Jacolbi J. Francois, 20 years of age, Address- Barrow St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:51 pm.

                 Illegal Carrying of Weapons
                 Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Juvenile female, 16 years of age, Address – Kentucky St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 6:61 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 1st offense
                Possession of Sch IV CDS (Xanax)
                Violation of Uniform CDS- Drug-Free Zone

 
   Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division conducted a search warrant on a Kentucky St. residence. Located inside the residence were Hope Chettiyar, Kyarius Williams, Drake Boudreaux, Laniya Grogan, Jacolbi Francois and two juveniles. Officers conducted the search and located suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Located on a female juvenile was a pill identified as Xanax.  Jacolbi Francois was found to be in possession of a firearm. During the course of the investigation, a computer check revealed the firearm was stolen.  Also, it was determined that Francois is a convicted felon.  All subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department and incarcerated.   The juvenile was booked and released to a guardian.


Ray J. Acosta, 43 years of age, Address-Franklin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 7:39 pm.

Charge:  Warrant-Failure to Appear (3cts)

   Ray Acosta was located at his residence and placed under arrest for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Acosta transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Kelly F. Whittington, 43 years of age, Address- Lake Palourde Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/07/2018 @ 11:40 pm.

Charge:  Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                Proper Equipment Required on Vehicle

      A patrol officer in the area of Second St. and Railroad Ave. observed a vehicle with a broken taillight. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Kelly Whittington. During the course of the investigation, Whittington had given the officer consent to search her vehicle. The officer located suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. Whittington was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Devin J. McMichael, 34 years of age, Address- Heidelberg, MS was arrested on 02/08/2018 @ 2:32 am.

Charge:  Improper Lane Usage
                 Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
                 Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

  A patrol officer in the area of Hwy 182 and Myrtle St., observed a vehicle swerving in and out the lane of travel.  A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Devin McMichael. According to reports, McMichael appeared intoxicated. McMichael was asked to perform the standardized field sobriety, in which he performed poorly. McMichael was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, McMichael was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication, McMichael refused.  McMichael was booked and incarcerated.
