The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 03/13/2014:
Leonard Yarborough, 52 years of age, Address-Berwick, La. was arrested on 03/13/2014 @ 1:40am
Charge: Warrant: Failure to Pay Fine-Shoplifting
Leonard Yarborough was located at the Berwick Police Department and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Jail facility where he was booked and incarcerated.
Courtland J. Francois, 22years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/13/2014 @ 9:49pm
Charge: Tail Lamps Required; Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Cocaine
An Morgan City Police Officer patrolling the area of Everette St. and Seventh St. stopped a vehicle after it was observed not to have functioning tail lamps. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Courtland Francois. During the stop, officers gathered evidence to suggest that the subjects may be in possession of illegal narcotics. During the investigation, a search was conducted of the vehicle at which time investigators discovered suspected crack cocaine, and suspected marijuana;both controlled substances. Francois admitted possesison of the items and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
Heidi M. Miller, 26 years of age, Address-Patterson, La. was arrested on 03/14/2014 @ 4:22am
Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Possession of Schedule IV CDS-Alprazolam
Joseph Johnson, 22 years of age, Address-Baton Rouge, La. was arrested on 03/14/2014 @ 4:26am
Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; No Driver License; Failure to Signal Turn; Warrant: East Baton Rouge Parish-Failure to Appear-Simple Burglary
A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Sixth St. and Gen MacArthur St. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Joseph Johnson could not produce a valid Louisiana Drivers LIcense. It was discovered that Johnson was a wanted person from East Baton Rouge Parish. He was detained and placed under arrest. During the stop, officers uncovered suspected marijuana from the vehicle and began to question the occupant. One passenger, Heidi Miller was found to possess a cellophane bag which contained suspected marijuana as well as several pills identified as Alprazolam. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.
