MCPD Arrest Report 02/19/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 72-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 108 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 02/16/2018:


Jose T. Garcia, 33 years of age, Address- West Syl’s Lane Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/16/2018 @ 7:00 pm.

Charge:  Warrant- Probation Violation

  Jose Garcia was arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Garcia was booked and incarcerated.


Sammie Pigott Jr., 48 years of age, Address- Francis St., Berwick, La. was arrested on 02/16/2018 @ 7:44 am.

Charge:  Theft under $1000.00

   Officers responded to a local business on LA 182 in regards to a shoplifter.  According to reports, management identified Sammie Pigott as the suspect in the theft. Pigott was located in the area of Sixth and Maine St. The items from the business were recovered and they were valued at $23.30. Pigott was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Krystal L. Meranta, 28 years of age, Address- Clark Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/16/2018 @ 8:15 pm.

Charge: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

  Officers responded to a residence on Second St. in regards to a disturbance. Reports indicate that Krystal Meranta was at the home causing a disturbance and appeared intoxicated. Meranta was asked to calm down several times, but refused. Meranta was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Heather R. Moore, 32 years of age, Address- Teche Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/17/2018 @ 3:30 am.

Charge:  Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense
                 Improper Lane Usage

   A patrol officer in the area of East Blvd and Railroad Ave. observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Heather Moore.  According to reports, Moore appeared intoxicated.  She was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which she performed poorly. Moore was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department Moore was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication, she refused.  A search warrant was obtained and Moore was transported to a medical facility for a sample of blood to be drawn. That sample was collected and results are pending.  Moore was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.


Jorge J. Ortega-Vazquez, 22 years of age, Address- Village Lane Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/17/2018 @ 2:14 am.

Charge:  Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
                 Reckless Operation of a Vehicle
                 Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

   A patrol officer in the area of LA 182 and Cottonwood St observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on LA 182 in the westbound lane. The vehicle then crashed into another vehicle traveling west on LA 182.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle and the driver was identified as Jorge Ortega-Vazquez. Reports indicate that Vazquez appeared intoxicated, he also performed poorly on the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Vazquez was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Vazquez was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Vazquez results yielded a .245g% of blood alcohol content. Ortega was booked and incarcerated.  

Ronald Picou, 52 years of age, Address- Karen Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/17/2018 @ 9:15 pm.

Charge:  Stop Sign Violation
                Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines

  A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Seventh St and Ditch Ave. for a vehicle failing to stop at the stop sign at that location. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ronald Picou.  A warrant check revealed that Picou held an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Picou was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Chett M. Von Buelow, 25 years of age, Address- Bernice St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/17/2018 @ 11:08 pm.

Charge: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  A patrol officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Ditch Ave. and Seventh St. The driver, Chett Von Buelow was asked to provide a valid driver’s license. During the course of the investigation, consent was given to search the vehicle. Located was an item used to smoke illegal narcotics.  Von Buelow was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Nicole Hampton, 30 years of age, Address- Southeast Blvd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/18/2018 @ 1:56 am.

Charge: Mirrors Required
               Driving Under Suspension
              Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense
              Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

  An officer observed a vehicle traveling on LA 182 near the US 90 junction without a driver’s side rearview mirror. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Nicole Hampton was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.  A computer check revealed that Hampton’s driver’s license was suspended.  During the course of the investigation, consent was given to search the vehicle and suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics were located. Hampton was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Leon Thibodeaux, 27 years of age, Address- Diane Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/18/2018 @ 3:16 am.

Charge: Speeding
                Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
                Improper Lane Usage

A patrol officer observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on LA 182 faster than the posted speed. The vehicle was also swerving in and out of its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Leon Thibodeaux was asked to provide a valid driver’s license.  According to reports, Thibodeaux appeared intoxicated. Thibodeaux was asked to perform to the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which he performed poorly. Thibodeaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Thibodeaux was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication and his results yielded a .136 g% of blood alcohol content. Thibodeaux was booked and incarcerated.


Celeste A. Delaune, 34 years of age, Address-Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/18/2018 @ 1:53 am.

Charge:  Possession of Synthetic Marijuana 1st Offense
                 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

   An officer observed an individual standing in front of a closed business in the area of LA 182 and Redwood St.  The individual was identified as Celeste Delaune. Delaune was found to be in possession of suspected synthetic marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Delaune was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Paula M. Duval, 28 years of age, Address-Fourth St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 02/18/2018 @ 6:12 pm.

Charge:  Reckless Operation
                 Driving Under Suspension
                Warrant-Failure to Appear (2cts)

  Officers responded to Lake End Park in regards to a vehicle driving reckless in the area. A description of the vehicle was given out and officers located the vehicle on Veteran’s Blvd. The driver was identified as Paula Duval and it was determined that her driver’s license was suspended.   According to reports, witnesses stated Duval had crashed into another vehicle at the park and left the area.  Duval also held warrants for the 16th Judicial District Court. Duval was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Cupertino Cos Subuluj, 27 years of age, Address- Palm Ave. Houma, La. was arrested on 02/19/2018 @ 12:10 am.

Charge: No Driver’s License
                Wrong Way on One Way Street

  An officer observed a vehicle traveling down the wrong way on Brashear Ave. near Eight St. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, Cupertino Cos Subuluj was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.  A computer check revealed that Cos Subuluj did not have a driver’s license. Cos Subuluj was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
