MCPD Arrest Report 03/21/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 46 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 03/20/2018:
Sidney L. Wainwright, 21 years of age, address: New Horizons New Iberia, La., arrested on 03/21/2018 @ 10:00 a.m.
Charges: Warrant: Possession of Marijuana W/I/T/D
Sidney L. Wainwright was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on March 15, 2018, when officers were assisting Patterson Police Department with an investigation that led to the Morgan City Area. According to reports, the investigation led to a residence in the area of Sacred Heart Drive when Sidney L. Wainwright along with several other people were identified. Wainwright was allegedly found to be in possession of a large amount of suspected Marijuana. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Wainwright’s arrest. Wainwright was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. The investigation is still ongoing.
Tanner W. Beglau, 30 years of age, address: E. Old Spanish Trail New Iberia, La., arrested on 03/20/2018 @ 2:00 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Trial on 09/21/2017 (7 Counts)
Tanner W. Beglau was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Beglau was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Dustin C. Lennep, 41 years of age, address: Barrow St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 03/20/2018 @ 5:07 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 03/06/2018
Dustin C. Lennep was located and arrested in the area of Federal Ave. on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Lennep was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Demetrius J. Green, 26 years of age, address: Mars Rd. Morgan City, La., arrested on 03/20/2018 @ 8:03 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Arraignment on 02/20/2018 (2 Counts)
Warrant: F.T.A. for Arraignment on 01/09/2018
Warrant: F.T.A. for Revocation on 02/20/2018 (16th Judicial)

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of MLK Blvd in an erratic manner. A stop was initiated and Demetrius J. Green was identified as the operator of the vehicle and Cortez Francois was identified as an occupant. According to reports, Francois was found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana, Promethazine w/Codeine, and Drug Paraphernalia. Green was found to hold several active arrest warrants through the 6th Ward Morgan City and 16th Judicial Courts. Green and Cortez were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.
