MCPD Arrest Report 04/17/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 41 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 04/16/2018:
Bryan K. Wright, 43 years of age, address: Ponderosa Dr. Gray, La., arrested on 04/16/2018 @ 12:30 p.m.
Charges: F.T.A. for Revocation on 03/23/2018
Bryan K. Wright was located and arrested in the area of Onstead St. on an active arrest warrant held by the 16th Judicial Court. Wright was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Desmond J. Richard, 36 years of age, address: Mike Dr. Patterson, La., arrested on 04/16/2018 @ 1:30 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Trial on 02/01/2018 (2 counts)
Desmond J. Richard was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Richard was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Desmond J. Richard was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Richard was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Deven W. Vining, 24 years of age, address: Pecos St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/16/2018 @ 2:52 p.m.
Charges: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
Flight from an Officer
No Driver’s License
Patrol officers responded to the area of MLK Blvd in regards to a vehicle that had been reported involved in an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint the day before. Officers arrived in the area and observed the vehicle in question. Officers attempted to initiate a stop on the vehicle when the vehicle fled the area on US 90 eventually coming to stop on US 90 near the city limits. Deven Vining was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Vining was allowed to use the vehicle but never returned it to the owner. Vining was also found not to possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License. Vining was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Robert Kelly, 54 years of age, address: Grace St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/16/2018 @ 4:30 p.m.
Charges: Driving while Intoxicated 1st Offense
Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Driving under Suspension
Patrol officers responded to the area of LA 182 in regards to a crash involving an overturned vehicle. Officers arrived when Robert Kelly was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, evidence was uncovered that Kelly operated the vehicle in a reckless manner, traveling off the roadway, striking a utility pole, and overturning onto another vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a business in the area. Kelly was found to be in an intoxicated state. Kelly was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for minor injuries where he submitted to blood analysis that are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. After Kelly was released from the medical facility he was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
