MCPD Arrest Report 04/26/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 38 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 04/25/2018: 

Barlow Toups, 42 years of age, address: Grace St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/25/2018 @ 10:27 a.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 02/14/2014

Barlow Toups was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Toups was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Larry Barnett 04262018

Larry G. Barnett, 38 years of age, address: Sixth St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/25/2018 @ 3:53 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Aggravated Second Degree Battery

Larry G. Barnett was located and arrested in the area of Sixth St. on an active arrest warrant held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on April 24, 2018, when they responded to the area of Sixth St. in regards to a disturbance. According to reports, officers arrived and learned that Barnett had allegedly struck the victim with a beer bottle in the facial area causing injury during a verbal altercation. Barnett was not located during the complaint. The investigation continued and warrants were prepared for Barnett’s arrest. Barnett was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Vernon Robin Sr., 75 years of age, address: First St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/25/2018 @ 9:41 p.m.

Charges: Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
                Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Patrol officers responded to the area of First St. in regards to shots being fired in the area. Officers arrived when Vernon Robin Sr. was identified. According to reports, Robin claimed he had seen someone on his video surveillance committing a theft in his yard. Robin then allegedly went outside his residence and discharged a firearm 3 times to scare the villains off. Reports indicate that Robin was found to be in an intoxicated state. Officer reviewed video surveillance and determined that no one was in Robin’s yard when he discharged the firearm. Robin was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Brittany Jones, 24 years of age, address: Lloyd St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 04/25/2018 @ 9:53 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Possession of Marijuana
                 Warrant: Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)
                 Warrant: Illegal Use of CDS in the presence of Juveniles
                 Warrant: Resisting an Officer by Giving False Information
                 Warrant: Driving under Suspension
                 Warrant: Registration Required
                 Warrant: No Insurance

Brittany S. Jones was located and arrested in the area of LA 182 on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from two separate investigations conducted by patrol officers on March 7, 2018. According to reports, officers responded to the area of Roderick St. in regards to a child being left unattended in a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene prior to officers arrival and was located in the area Grizzaffi St. A stop was initiated when Jones provided officers with a false name. The officer issued Jones a citation under that false identity and she was released after handling the complaint for multiple traffic violations. Later that evening patrol officers responded to the area of Robin St. in regards to a theft. Officers arrived when they detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the residence. Brittany S. Jones was identified and found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana. The residence was also occupied by a small child and the area where the incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. The officer that had handled the complaint earlier in the area of Roderick St. arrived at the residence and observed the female he had stopped earlier on that complaint. According to reports, he had learned that Jones had provided him with a false name during their original investigation.  The investigation continued on both incidents and warrants were prepared for Jones’ arrest. Jones was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
