Arrest Report 03/25/2014

The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 03/24/2014:

 

Amy Ponce-Mata, 36 years of age, Address-Amelia, La. was arrested on 03/24/2014 @ 1:32pm

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Return Leased Merchandise; Warrant: Driving Under Revocation; Warrant: Careless Operation

Amy Ponce-Mata came to the Morgan City Police Department for other services and it was discovered that she was a wanted person on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.  She was arrested, booked and later released after posting a cash bond. 

 

Luis E. Corrales-Miranda, 29 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/24/2014 @ 7:27am

Charge: No Drivers License; Failure to Yield with Accident

Officers responded to a vehicle crash near the intersection of Grizzaffi St. and Highway 182.  A driver involved in the accident was identified as Luis Corrales-Miranda who was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid drivers license.  It was discovered in the accident that he failed to yield to traffic resulting in the accident.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  

 

Dylon Chellette, 20 years of age, Address-Belanger St. Morga City, Louisiana was arrested on 03/24/2014 @ 9:44pm

Charge: Hit & Run Driving; Reckless Operation of a Moveable; No Drivers License on Person

Charge: Resisting an Officer

     Officers were dispatched to the area of Brashear Avenue in regards to a vehicle crash.  While enroute, they were advised that an off duty Morgan City officer had witnessed the crash and that a vehicle involved had left the scene and was being followed by the off-duty officer.  The vehicle traveled to a residence on Cypress St. and the vehicle's occupants were observed running into a residence.  Officers went to the residence and spoke with the female inside, Alexis Crews who provided officers with false statements in an apparent attempt to hide the persons involved.  It was discovered that the subjects, as the female was speaking with officers ran from the rear of the residence.  They were later located after returning to the scene.  Dylon Challette was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was subsequently arrested.  Crews, who according to reports attempted to impede officers investigation by false statements and concealment of the persons involved was also arrested.  Both were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated. 

 

Jared J. Helms, 27 years of age, Address-Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 03/25/2014 @ 12:43am

Charge: Theft: Value $8.83

Officers were dispatched to a Highway 182 restaurant in regards to a subject refusing to pay for food.  The officers arrived and were advised that a male subject ordered a meal, consumed the meal and then left the premises refusing to pay for the meal.  Restaurant staff attempted to stop the subject but the subject refused, driving away in a vehicle.  The staff provided officers with a description of the vehicle.  The subject was located at a Bayou Vista address by St. Mary Sheriffs Officers.  He was returned ot the scene, identified and placed under arrest for the theft.  He was booked and incarcerated.  He was later released after posting a cash bond. 

 

Miles P. Laughlin, 48 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 03/25/2014 @ 7:13am

Charge: Warrant: Simple Battery (involving juvenile)

A patrolling officer located Mile Laughlin near the corner of Belanger St. and Federal Avenue and placed him under arrest on outstanding warrants for an incident which was alleged on February 24, 2014 in which Laughlin was accused of striking a juvenile during an altercation.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
