MCPD Arrest Report 05/14/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 72-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 106 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 05/11/2018:
Donnell Williams, 21 years of age, address: Trevino St. Berwick, La., arrested on 05/11/2018 @ 10:49 a.m.
Charges: Possession of Marijuana W/I/T/D
Transactions Involving Proceeds from CDS Activity
Warrant: Probation Violation
Charleston J. Grogan, 23 years of age, address: Wren St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/11/2018 @ 10:58 a.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 01/30/2018 (5 Counts)
Resisting an Officer by Giving False Information
Entry or Remaining in places after being Forbidden
Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division encountered Charleston J. Grogan in the area of Wren St. According to reports, Grogan provided investigators with a false name upon initial contact. Grogan was found to hold several active arrest warrants through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court and he was barred from entering upon Morgan City Housing Authority Properties. While conducting their investigation, investigators observed another subject who was identified as Donnell Williams in the area holding a cellophane bag of suspected Marijuana. Williams was also found to be in possession of US Currency that is believed to be derived from the sales of Illegal Narcotics. Evidence was also uncovered that some of the suspected marijuana was destined to be sold in illicit sales. Williams was also found to hold an active arrest warrant through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Grogan and Williams were both arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.
Joseph Martinez, 45 years of age, address: John St. Berwick, La., arrested on 05/11/2018 @ 3:16 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 03/27/2018 (3 Counts)

Possession of SCH I CDS (Synthetic Marijuana)
Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Federal Ave. following another vehicle too close. A stop was initiated when Joseph Martinez was identified as an occupant. According to reports, Martinez was found to hold several active arrest warrants through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Martinez was also found to be in possession of suspected Synthetic Marijuana. Martinez was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Glenn M. Mitchell Jr., 30 years of age, address: Bayou Black Dr. Gibson, La., arrested on 05/11/2018 @ 7:56 p.m.
Charges: Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle
Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Hwy 182 in a erratic manner. A stop was initiated when Glenn M. Mitchell Jr. was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, the vehicle that Mitchell was operating did not have a license plate, registration, or proper insurance as required by Louisiana Law. Mitchell was also found to be in possession of an open alcoholic beverage in the motor vehicle. Mitchell was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Travis J. Vaughn, 47 years of age, address: Woodview Ct. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/12/2018 @ 2:30 a.m.
Charges: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
Headlights Required
Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of LA 182 without any head lights illuminated. A stop was initiated when Travis J. Vaughn was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Vaughn was found to be in an intoxicated stated. Vaughn performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Vaughn was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail for Chemical Testing which he refused to submit to. A search warrant was obtained for blood to be drawn for analysis which is pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Vaughn was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Jeremie A. Hanks, 40 years of age, address: Brownell St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/13/2018 @ 10:42 p.m.
Charges: Simple Assault
Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
Patrol officers responded to the area of Brownell St. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived when Jeremie A. Hanks was identified as one of the parties involved. According to reports, Hanks was found to be in an intoxicated state. Hanks allegedly threatened to commit a battery on the victim. Hanks was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Michael J. Welch, 50 years of age, address: Levee Hwy. Pierre Part, La., arrested on 05/13/2018 @ 12:02 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: Possession of SCH II CDS (Methamphetamine) W/I/T/D
Warrant: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Michael J. Welch was located and arrested in the area of LA 70 on active arrest warrants held by the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Welch was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
