MCPD Arrest Report 05/18/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 46 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 05/17/2018:

Gerald Jones Jr., 17 years of age, address: Egle St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/17/2018 @ 9:58 a.m.

Charges: Simple Battery

Patrol officers responded to the area of Tiger Dr. in regards to a battery that had been committed. Officers arrived when Gerald Jones Jr. was identified. According to reports, Jones allegedly committed a battery on the victim during an altercation. Jones was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Samantha R. Jones, 34 years of age, address: Seventh St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/17/2018 @ 12:19 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 03/21/2017

Samantha R. Jones was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Jones was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Walter S. Banegas-Portillo, 21 years of age, address: Village Ln. Amelia, La., arrested on 05/17/2018 @ 5:07 p.m.

Charges: Driving Under Suspension
                 Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
                 No Insurance
                 Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 11/14/2017
                 Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 12/19/2017

Patrol officers responded to the area of LA 70 in regards to a crash. Officers arrived when Walter S. Banegas-Portillo was identified as one of the operators of the vehicles involved. According to reports, evidence was found that Banegas-Portillo operated his vehicle in a careless manner which resulted in the crash. Banegas-Portillo’s Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension, the vehicle he was operating did not has proper insurance as required by Louisiana Law, and he held active arrest warrants through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Benegas-Portillo was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Brittany K. Cunningham, 23 years of age, address: Natures Way Walker, La., arrested on 05/18/2018 @ 1:15 a.m.

Charges:  Improper Turning
                  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Sixth St. negotiate an improper turn. A stop was initiated when Brittany K. Cunningham was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Cunningham was found to be in possession of Drug Paraphernalia. K-9 Buddy with the St. Mary Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation. Cunningham was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Caleb August 05172018

Caleb J. August, 17 years of age, address: Belanger St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 05/17/2018 @ 11:53 p.m.

Charges: Simple Burglary

Patrol officers responded to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to a subject wanting to turn himself in on a crime. Officers arrived when Caleb J. August was identified. According to reports, August admitted to burglarizing a residence on Laurel St. the day before. The Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division was currently investigating the burglary in question and August was identified as a suspect. August was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail where he was incarcerated.

David Turner 05182018

David A. Turner, 27 years of age, address: Monarch St. Houma, La., arrested on 05/18/2018 @ 4:15 a.m.

Charges: Attempted Unauthorized Entry into an Inhabited Dwelling

 Patrol officers responded to the area of Brashear Ave. in regards to an attempted burglary. Officers arrived when David A. Turner was identified. According to reports, Turner attempted to gain entry into a residence in the area of Brashear Ave. Turner was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
