MCPD Arrest Report 05/23/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 32 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 05/22/2018:
Joseph L. Gary, 32 years of age, Address- Terrebonne St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/22/2018 @ 7:42 am.
Charge: Careless Operation
Hit & Run
Failure to Report an Accident
No Insurance
Officers responded to the area of Sixth and Terrebonne St. in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash. According to reports, a vehicle was properly parked in the area of Terrebonne St., when another vehicle sideswiped the parked vehicle and fled the area. A description of the vehicle was given out to officers and the vehicle was later located on Egle St. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joseph Gary. Reports indicate that Gary admitted to crashing into the vehicle and fleeing the area. Gary’s vehicle was also found not to have proper insurance. Gary was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Yosheka B. Hayes, 31 years of age, Address-Duke St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/22/2018 @ 10:45 am.
Charge: Warrant-Failure to Appear for Criminal Mischief
Yosheka Hayes was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant she held for the 6th Ward City Court. Hayes was booked and incarcerated.
Harrison Short, 52 years of age, Address-Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/22/2018 @ 4:41 pm.
Charge: Warrant- Battery of a Dating Partner
Harrison Short was located at his residence and placed under arrest for an active warrant he held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stems from an incident in February 2018, which alleges that Short committed a battery on an individual. Short was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Destiny R. Kelley, 40 years of age, Address- Highland Rd. Baton Rouge, La. was arrested on 05/22/2018 @ 3:07 pm.
Charge: Improper Lane Usage
Driving Under Suspension
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Sch II- Methamphetamine
Stanley Richard, 41 years of age, Address- Colorado Ave. Kenner, La. was arrested on 05/22/2018 @ 3:07 pm.
Charge: Possession of Marijuana
Detectives with the Morgan City Police Narcotics Division were patrolling the area of Fifth St. near Brashear Ave. when they observed a vehicle traveling in the center of the lane on Brashear Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Destiny Kelley was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Kelley’s driver’s license was suspended. During the course of the investigation, officers were given consent to search the vehicle. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Stanley Richard. Officers located inside the vehicle suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Both Kelley and Richard were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
