MCPD Arrest Report 07/13/2018
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 57 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 07/12/2018:
Katherine Richardson, 63 years of age, address: Maryland St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/12/2018 @ 9:53 a.m.
Charges: Theft under $1,000
Patrol officers responded to a local business in the area of LA 182 in regards to a theft on June 28, 2018. Officers arrived when an employee of the business was identified. Katherine Richardson allegedly took items from the business valued at $26.62. The investigation continued when warrants were prepared for Richardson’s arrest. Richardson was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.
Charleston Grogan, 23 years of age, address: Wren St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/12/2018 @ 2:27 p.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 07/10/2018 (9 counts)
Charleston Grogan was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Grogan was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Amanda L. Smith, 37 years of age, address: Everett St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/12/2018 @ 3:10 p.m.
Charges: Driving under Suspension
Improper Equipment
Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of Cedar St. with improper equipment. A stop was initiated when Amanda L. Smith was identified. According to reports, Smith’s Louisiana Driver’s License was found to be under suspension. Smith was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)
Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Maine St. Jackie Phillips was identified during the investigation. According to reports, investigators located suspected Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. Evidence was uncovered that the suspected Cocaine and Methamphetamine were intended to be sold in illicit sales. The area where the incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Phillips was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Melvin Richard, 34 years of age, address: Signe Rd. Patterson, La., arrested on 07/13/2018 @ 1:11 a.m.
Charges: Warrant: Parole Violation
Melvin Richard was located and arrested in the area of US 90 on an active arrest warrant held by the Louisiana Probation and Parole. Richard was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
Dustin J. Ferguson, 26 years of age, address: Levee Rd. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/13/2018 @ 3:15 a.m.
Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Arraignment on 02/20/2018
Dustin J. Ferguson was located and arrested in the area of US 90 on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Ferguson was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
