MCPD Arrest Report 07/17/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 49 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 07/16/2018: 

Travis T. Singleton, 34 years of age, address: Leona St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/16/2018 @ 3:37 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. for Trial on 06/14/2018

Travis T. Singleton was located and arrested in the area of Leona St. on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Singleton was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Ginger Russell 07162018

Ginger R. Russell, 41 years of age, address: Oak Harbor Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/16/2018 @ 5:40 p.m.

Charges: Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility
                 Possession of a Legend Drug w/o a Prescription

Ginger R. Russell was being housed at the Morgan City Jail when she was found to be in possession of suspected Mirtazapine. Russell was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Wesley R. Bass, 21 years of age, address: River Road Berwick, La., arrested on 07/16/2018 @ 10:13 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 07/10/2018 (5 counts)
                 Resisting an Officer

Wesley R. Bass was located and arrested in the area of Greenwood St. on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. According to reports, while taking Bass into custody he resisted Officers. Bass was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Corey J. Abshire, 40 years of age, address: Marshall St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 07/16/2018 @ 10:28 p.m.


Charges: Disturbing the Peace

Patrol officers responded to the area of Marshall St. in regards to a disturbance. Officers arrived when Corey J. Abshire was identified as one of the parties involved. According to reports, Abshire continued to cause a disturbance after officers arrived. Abshire was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Darius D. T. Preston, 19 years of age, address: Richard St. Baldwin, La., arrested on 07/17/2018 @ 12:30 a.m.

Charges: Possession of Marijuana
                 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                 Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of Juveniles
                 Required Signals

Patrol officers observed a vehicle negotiate a lane change in the area of Brashear Ave. failing to signal the change. A stop was initiated when Darius D. T. Preston was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Preston was found to be in possession of suspected Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. Reports indicate that a 15 year old juvenile was in the vehicle at the time of the stop. Preston was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Elijah G. Percle, 22 years of age, address: Hwy 182 Patterson, La., arrested on 07/17/2018@ 3:38 a.m.

Charges: Flight from an Officer
                 Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of US 90 in a reckless manner. Officers were able to catch up to the vehicle which was traveling at over 90 mph in a 60 mph zone. Officers attempted to initiate a stop when the vehicle continued to travel. The vehicle eventually stopped on US 90 when Elijah G. Percle was identified as the operator of the vehicle. Percle was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
