MCPD Arrest Report 08/03/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 51 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 08/02/2018:


Scott R. Barr, 35 years of age, Address- Bay City, TX was arrested on 0802/2018 @ 9:25 am.

Charge:  Criminal Sanctions for Operating Motor Vehicle
                Proper Equipment Required on Vehicles
                Warrant- Negligent Injury (2tc)
                 Warrant- Hit & Run

   A patrol officer in the area of Federal Ave. observed a vehicle without a license plate. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Scott Barr was asked to show a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed the vehicle was not insured. During the course of the investigation, a warrants check was done on Barr and it was determined that he held active warrants for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office. Barr was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Teligia M. Busby, 52 years of age, Address- Marshall St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/02/2018 @ 5:03 pm.

Charge: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

   Officers responded to the area of Marshall St. in regards to an individual who was possibly intoxicated and was walking in the roadway. Officers arrived and made contact with the individual identified as Teligia Busby.  Reports indicate that Busby did appear intoxicated. Busby was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Clara M. Drexler, 36 years of age, Address-Franklin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/03/2018 @ 2:30 am.

Charge:  Possession of Marijuana
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                Owner Secure Vehicle Registration

   An officer in the area of Sixth and Marguerite St. observed a vehicle with a temporary license plate that was expired. A traffic stop was done on the vehicle and the driver; Clara Drexler was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.  Reports indicate that the officer could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Drexler gave the officer consent to search the vehicle and suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. Drexler was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
