MCPD Arrest Report 11/30/2018

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 42 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 11/29/2018:

Chandice Ross 11292018

Candice L. Ross, 32 years of age, Address-Pine St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/29/2018 @ 1:04 pm.

Charge: Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
               Violation of Uniform CDS Law-Drug Free Zone

      The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division along with the assistance of the Louisiana Office of Probation and Parole conducted a compliance check at a residence on Pine St. Once at the residence, officers made contact with Candice Ross and another individual. While inside the home, officers located several individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana. The area that the residence is located is within 2000 feet of an elementary school which is considered a drug-free zone. Ross was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Janis M. Boudreaux, 63 years of age, Address-Louisa St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/28/2018 @ 3:05 pm.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Fines

   Janis Boudreaux was located at her residence on Louisa St. and placed under arrest for an active warrant for the 6th Ward City Court. Boudreaux was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Charles Romero 11302018

Charles E. Romero Jr, 44 years of age, Address-Erath, La. was arrested on 11/30/2018 @ 2:47 am.
Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense
               Driving Under Suspension
               Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

  An officer in the area of LA Hwy 182 near Florence St. observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Charles Romero was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. While speaking to the officer, Romero appeared intoxicated. A computer check revealed that Romero’s driver’s license was suspended. The officer also observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle. Romero was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and he performed poorly. Romero was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Romero refused the chemical test for intoxication. A warrant was obtained for a sample of blood to be withdrawn from Romero. Romero was transported to a medical facility for the retrieval of the sample. The results of the sample are pending. Romero was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
