MCPD Arrest Report 01/07/2019

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 72-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 123 calls for service. The following person(s) were arrested as a result beginning on 01/04/2019:

Christopher A. Marquez, 32 years of age, Address-Bernard St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 01/04/2019 @ 10:00 am.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Fine (3cts)

   Christopher Marquez was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court.

Ronald Morgan 01042019

Ronald J. Morgan Jr, 52 years of age, Address-Front St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/04/2019 @ 4:15 pm.

Charge: Warrant-Criminal Conspiracy to Introduce Contraband

      Ronald Morgan was placed under arrest at the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the department. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Detective Division on January 2nd that alleges Morgan conspired with inmates in the Morgan City Jail Facility to have contraband brought into the jail. Morgan was booked and incarcerated.

Darrin T. Hemphill, 50 years of age, Address-Front St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/04/2019 @ 9:20 pm.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Pay Fines (2cts)

   Darrin Hemphill was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Hemphill was booked and incarcerated.

Kameron Francis 01042019

Kameron M. Francis, 18 years of age, Address-Aucoin St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/04/2019 @ 11:36 pm.

Charge: Possession of Marijuana
               Possession of Sch II CDS-Vyvanse
               Possession of a Legend Drug-BuSpar
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
               Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile

     An officer working security at Lake End Park observed a parked vehicle with two individuals inside. The officer made contact with the individuals identified as Kameron Francis and a 16-year old male juvenile. Reports indicate that the smell of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Through further investigation, suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. Pills identified as Vyvanse and BuSpar were found in Francis’ possession. Both Francis and the juvenile were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. The juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was booked and released to a guardian. Francis was booked and incarcerated.

James J. Heckert, 23 years of age, Address-McCook, NE was arrested on 01/06/2019 @ 12:14 am.

Charge: Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense
                Improper Lane Usage

      An officer on LA Hwy 182 near Roderick St. observed a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, James Heckert was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. According to reports, Heckert appeared intoxicated. Heckert was asked to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test, in which he performed poorly. Heckert was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, Heckert submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Heckert’s results yielded a .143g% of blood alcohol content. Heckert was booked and incarcerated.

Kevin J. Gant, 31 years of age, Address-Grout St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 01/06/2019 @ 3:03 am.

Charge: Warrant-Failure to Appear No Turn Signal

   Kevin Gant was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant he held for the 6th Ward City Court. Gant was booked and incarcerated.

John W. Ross, 50 years of age, Address-LA Hwy 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/07/2019 @ 12:00 am.

Charge: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
               Criminal Mischief-Tampering with Property
               Criminal Trespass

     Officers responded to Sandra St. in regards to an individual walking in the area pulling on car doors parked in the area. Officers came into contact with the individual identified as John Ross. Witnesses in the area identified Ross as the one on the property of the closed business. Reports indicate that Ross appeared intoxicated. Ross was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
