MCPD Arrest Report 01/07/2020
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 38 calls of service. The following person(s) were arrested as the result beginning on 01/06/2020:
Jarell Willis Porter, 23 years of age, Address-Ezelie St., Lafayette, La., was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 10:30 A.M.
Warrants: Failure to Appear (3 Counts)
Jarell Willis Porter was located at the Lafayette Parish Detention Center and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for City Court of Morgan City. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Justin Clarence Lovell, 26 years of age, Address-Joey St., Patterson, La., was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 1:07 P.M.
Charge: Driving under Suspension
An officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the area of Highway LA 70 and David Drive. The driver was identified as Justin C. Lovell. A computer check revealed his driver's license was under suspension. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Jerroid Jermaine Garrison, 27 years of age, Address-Federal Ave., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 3:42 P.M.
Warrant: Distribution of Marijuana
Violation of Uniform CDS-Drug Free Zone
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brashear Ave and Seventh St. Jerroid J. Garrison was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. A warrant check revealed the Morgan City Police Department held active warrants for his arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Narcotics Division. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Racquel Delaune Barber, 44 years of age, Address-Roderick St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 4:23 P.M.
Charge: No Seatbelt
Possession of Methamphetamine (Less than 2 grams)
An officer on patrol observed a traffic violation in the area of Sixth St. and General Patton St. Racquel D. Barber was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, officers observed Barber attempted to conceal suspected methamphetamine on her person. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Duane D. McClendon, 49 years of age, Address-Lajaunie St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 6:35 P.M.
Charge: Turn Signal Violation

Gary J. Johnson, 45 years of age, Address-Egle St., Morgan City, La. was arrested on 1/6/2020 at 6:35 P.M.

Narcotic Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sixth St. and Levee Rd. for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Duane D. McClendon and the passenger as Gary Johnson. A computer check revealed McClendon driver's license was under suspension. During the traffic stop, a K-9 Officer was called to the scene to assist in the investigation. Morgan City Police Department K-9 Dally was deployed on the exterior of the vehicle. K-9 Dally alerted officers to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, Detectives located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Both McClendon and Johnson were placed under arrest. They were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
