MCPD Arrest Report for 5/11/2020
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 36-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 108 calls of service. The following person(s) were arrested as the result beginning on 5/8/2020
Josue B. Avilez-Ortiz, 27 years of age, Address-Chennault St., Morgan City, LA, was arrested on 5/9/2020 at 8:20 P.M.
Charge: Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense)
Officers investigating a crash at the intersection of Seventh St. and Brashear Ave., identified one of the driver's as Josue B. Avilez-Ortiz. The officer suspected driver impairment and gave him a Field Sobriety Test. He did poorly on the test and was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and given an intoxilyzer test. He gave a breath sample of 0.142g%. He was booked into the Morgan City Police Department.
Javien Jawan Francis, 23 years of age, Address-Oregon St., Berwick, LA, was arrested on 5/9/2020 at 9:38 P.M.
Warrants: Failure to Appear (4 Counts)
Possession of Methamphetamine
Officers came into contact with Javien J. Francis in the area of Seventh St. and Brashear Ave. A warrant check revealed the Morgan City Police Department and City Court of Morgan City held active warrants for his arrest. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Alonzo Bennett, 34 years of age, Address-Martin Luther King Ave., Patterson, LA, was arrested on 5/10/2020 at 1:32 A.M.
Charge: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Warrant: Simple Battery
Officers were called to a residence on Bush St. for a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they came into contact with Alonzo Bennett. A warrant check revealed St. Mary Sheriffs Office held an active warrant for his arrest. During the investigation, Bennett was found in possession of a firearm. A computer check revealed he was a convicted felon. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Ernest Sentel Oneal, 38 years of age, Address-Fifth St., Morgan City, LA., was arrested on 5/11/2020 at 1:25 A.M.
Charge: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
Simple Battery of the Infirm
Officers were called to a Fifth St. residence for a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they came into contact with Ernest S. Oneal. Officers observed he was in an intoxicated and learned he had committed a battery on a person with disabilities. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
