Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 30-calls of service. The following person(s) were arrested as the result beginning on 7/29/2020.
Valerie ann Landreneau, 50 years of age, Address-Pershing St., Morgan City, LA., was arrested on 7/29/2020 at 6:38 P.M.
Charge: Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Violation of Uniform CDS Laws-Drug Free Zone
Warrant: Possession of Synthetic Marijuana (1st Offense)
Possession of Schedule IV CDS-Xanax
Investigators with the Morgan City Narcotics Division located Valerie A. Landreneau at an address on Pershing St. on an active warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. During the arrest, she was found in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
David Luis-Martinez Vargas, 40 years of age, Address-Highway 182, Morgan City, LA., was arrested in 7/29/2020 at 9:43 P.M.
Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery-Strangulation

False Imprisonment
Officers were called to an address on Highway 182 for a domestic disturbance. Upon officer's arrival, they learned David Luis-Martinez Vargas had committed a battery on his domestic dating partner in the presence of a minor child. Officers also learned Vargas has refused to let the victim leave the residence prior to police arriving. He was located on scene and placed under arrest. He was booked and incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department.
