MCPD Arrest Report 04/17/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 04/16/2015:


Shane E. Richard, 20 years of age, Address-Filmore St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/16/2015 @ 9:13 am

Charge: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     Officers were dispatched to a Filmore St. residence to investigate a narcotics complaint. During the investigation they came in contact with a suspect, Shane Richard. In the process, investigators located items determined to be drug paraphernalia. Officers uncovered evidence that the items belonged to Richard. Shane Richard was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Anthony P. Ruffin, 36 years of age, Address-Patterson, La. was arrested on 04/16/2015 @ 9:26 am

Charge: Warrant: Aggravated Burglary

     Anthony Ruffin was located at the Terrebonne Parrish Correctional Facility and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant was result of a complaint filed on 11/05/2014 in which Ruffin is accused of entering a Brownell Homes residence then committing a theft of a cell phone before leaving. He was booked and remains incarcerated.

     On April 14, 2015 Morgan City Police Detectives began an investigation of a theft by fraud from a Youngs Rd. company. It was alleged that two employees of the company had fabricated documents in an effort to  obtain pay. During the investigation, it was determined that the theft orginated in Ascenion Parish. Both suspects are accused of submitting ficticious invoices for time not worked totalling $30,400 for each individual, totalling $60,800.00.  Ascenion Parish authorities were contacted, who, as result of their investigation obtained arrest warrants for the individuals. the suspects Martin Locks and Terrance Lindon were located at the Youngs Rd. company where they were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and awaiting transport to Ascension Parish.

Robert W. Choate, 57 years of age, Address-Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/16/2015 @ 9:15 pm

Charge: Simple Battery
               Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

     Officers were dispatched to Fourth St. residence in regards to a battery being commited on a female victim. Officers arrived and learned from the victim that Robert Choate had struck the victim repeatedly. Officers also learned that the victim had struck Choate in an effort to defend herself. Officers located Choate a short distance from the residence. Robert Choate was found to be in an impaired condition. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
