MCPD Arrest Report 05/22/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 05/21/2015:


Irvin Thomas, 50 years of age, Address-Sixth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/21/2015 @ 7:56 am.


Charge:  No Driver's License
                Resisting an Officer by Giving False Information
                No Seat Belt

     A patrolling offiicer in the area of LA 182 near Federal Ave., noticed a vehicle with a child unrestrained in the rear of the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was asked to give a valid driver's license.  During the course of the investigation, it was determine that the driver, Irvin Thomas had given officers a false name. When questioned about his identity, he admitted he had given a false name and did not have a driver's license.  Thomas was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Cory Chapman, 49 years of age, Address-Franklin, La. was arrested on 05/21/2015 @ 11:23 am.


Charges: Warrant- Failure to Appear 
                 Warrant- Theft under $750.00, Criminal Trespassing
                  Resisting an Officer

     Cory Chapman was located in the area of Railroad Ave. and Mount St. Officers was aware of active warrants on Chapman. According to reports, Chapman tried to flee from officers, but was subdued.  Chapman was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jana N. Jones, 39 years of age, Address-Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/21/2015 @ 11:30 am.


Charge: Theft of Goods ($8.95)

     Officers were dispatched to a local supermarket on LA 182 in regards to a shoplifter. When officers arrived, managment stated that a female, Jana Jones had placed items in her purse and tried to leave the store without paying. According to reports, Jones did admit to officers that she had placed the items inside of her purse and did not intend to pay for them.  Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jonathan P. Wiggins, 28 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/21/2015 @ 1:03 pm. 


Charge: Bank Fraud

     Officers were dispatched to a local bank in regards to possible fraud.  An employee of the bank stated to officers that Jonathan Wiggins had come into the bank to cash a check from a local business. The employee contacted the bank and the owner of the buisness stated that no check was ever written to Wiggins.  Officer made contact with Wiggins in the bank and was asked about the check.  According to reports, Wiggins stated the check was written to him for work he had completed. Wiggins was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Quincy J. Johnson, 21 years of age, Address-Fifth St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 05/21/2015 @ 2:38 pm.


Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines (3 cts)
               Warrant- Possession of Stolen Things
               Warrant- Contempt of Court

    Quincy Johnson was arrested by the Patterson Police Departmen and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants held for the Sixth Ward City Court.  Johnson was booked and incarcerated.
