MCPD Arrest Report 07/02/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 07/01/2015:


Terrence A. Reed, 29 years of age, Address-Fifth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/01/2015 @ 9:13 pm.


Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery Child Endangerment Law

     Officers were dispatched to a residence on Fifth St. in regards to a domestic disturbance.  Officers arrived and the victim stated she and her husband, Terrance Reed were having a verbal altercation, when he began striking her in the facial area.  Officers observed marks on the victim consistent with her statements. During the disturbance, a four year old juvenile was present. Officers were able to locate Reed inside the residence.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Sherry H. Cooper, 30 years of age, Address-Park St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/01/2015 @ 9:41 pm.


Charge:  Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated-Child Endangerment Law
                Careless Operation with an Accident

    Officers were dispatched to Bernice St. in regards to a vehicle crashing into a parked vehicle. Officers arrived and spoke to the driver, Sherry Cooper. Officers observed that Cooper could not maintain control of her motor skills and appeared under the influence of an unknown medication. Officers also noticed an infant inside the vehicle properly secured. An ambulance service was called to the scene and Cooper was transported to a local hospital.  The child was release to a relative. Once released from the hosiptal, Cooper was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Troy J. Madise, 51 years of age, Address-Egle St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/01/2015 @ 10:29 pm.


Charge:  Warrant-Failure to Appear (2 counts)

     Troy Madise was located in the area of Federal Ave. and Bowman St. A local warrants check was done on him and it was determined that he held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court.  Madise was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Gordon C. Helman, 23 years of age, Address-Joey St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 07/02/2015 @ 1:57 am.


Charge:  Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated
                Failure to Dim Bright Lights
                Passing in a No Passing Zone
                Modified Exhaust System

     A patrol officer in the area of Federal Ave. and Bowman St. noticed a vehicle with improper lighting and passing another vehicle in a no passing zone.  A traffic stop was conducted. The driver, Gorden Helman, was asked to produce a valid driver's license.  The officer observed an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Helman's breath. Helman was asked to preform the Standardized Field Soberity Test, in which he performed poorly.  Helman was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.  Once at the department, Helman was asked to submit to the chemicial test for intoxication. Helman's sample resulted in a .176 g% of blood alcohol content. Helman was booked and incarcerated.
