MCPD Arrest Report 11/10/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 11/09/2015:


Joseph C, Young, 46 years of age, Address- Tiffany St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 12:18 am.


Charge:  Simple Burglary
                Resisting an Officer by Giving False Information
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 3rd Offense
                Warrant- Unauthorized Use of a Movable 2cts (Patterson P.D.)

     Officers were dispatched to a residence on Eleventh St. in regards to someone being inside of an abandon house.  When officers arrived, they observed a door that appeared to have been pried open. A short time later an individual, identified as Joseph Young, had come to the front door. The owner of the property was contacted and stated that no one should be on the property. When officers first came into contact with Young, he gave officers a false name, but later gave his true identity. Officers also located in Young's possession an item used to smoke illegal narcotics. Young also held active warrants for the Patterson Police Department. Young was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Harold A. Sheets, 32 years of age, Address- Third St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 12:58 pm. 


Charge:  Warrant- Failure to Appear Distrubing the Peace
                Warrant- Contempt of Court (3cts)

     Harold Sheets was located in the area of Railroad Ave and Myrtle St. A local warrants check was done on Sheets and it was determined that he held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Sheets was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Latifha Friels, 22 years of age, Address- Fifth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 1:17 pm. 


Charge:  Warrant- Armed Robbery

     Latifha Friels was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant she held for the Morgan City Police Department.  The Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division filed a  warrant on Friels for her alleged involvement in the armed robbery that occurred on October 20, 2015, near the 700 block of Federal Ave. Friels was booked and incarcerated. Bond was set at $150,000.00. The investigation continues with more arrest pending.  

Micah K. Soileau, 18 years of age, Address-Joey St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 5:01 pm.

Brook N. Fuselier, 28 years of age, Address-Egle St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 5:01 pm.


Charge:  Warrant- Possession of Sch. IV Zolpidem

    Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle St. in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they observed Brooke Fuselier and Micah Soileau having an verbal altercation. Both Fuselier and Soileau were asked to calm down, but Soileau continued to yell and use profanities. Soileau was placed under arrest. A warrants check was done on Fuselier and it was determined that she held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Fuselier was placed under arrest and they both were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

George W. Griffin, 63 years of age, Address- Rose St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 8:04 pm. 


Charge:  Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated

     A patrol officer in the area of Hwy 182 near Aycock St. observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, George Griffin was asked to produce a valid driver's license.  As the officer approched Griffin, he could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.  Griffin was asked to preform the standard field soberity test, in which he performed poorly.  Griffin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, Griffin was asked to submit to the chemical test for intoxication. Griffin refused and was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. Griffin was booked and incarcerated. 

Darren T. Hemphill, 47 years of age, Address- Front St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 10:35 pm. 


Charge:  Appearing in Public Intoxicated

     A patrol officer in the area of Victor II Blvd. and Hwy 70 observed an individual who appeared to be intoxicated and was almost struck by passing vehicles. The officer came into contact with the individual identified as Darren Hemphil and he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Hempill was also unable to maintain his balance. Hemphill was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. 

Shane P. Scully, 27 years of age, Address- Tupelo St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2015 @ 10:39 pm.


Charge:  Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Disturbute
                Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                Violation of Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Law
                Transactions involving Proceeds from CDS Activity
                Obstruction of Justice
                Warrant - Simple Battery (2cts)

     The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at a residence on Tupelo St. Once inside officers located Shane Scully, another individual and two juveniles inside the residence. During the course of the investigation, officers located suspected marijuana, items used to smoke illegal narcotics and U.S. Currency totalling $581.00. According to reports, Scully admitted that the items found in the residence belonged to him.  Scully also held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Scully was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set yet.
