MCPD Arrest Report 12/11/2015
The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period which began on 12/09/2015.
Wesley R Chappelle, 52 years of age, Address: Emy Street, Patterson, La. was arrested on 12/09/2015 @ 6:32 P.M.
Charges: Theft of Goods
Resisting an Officer
Wesley R Chappelle
Officers responded to a local store on Hwy 182 in regard to a shoplifter. A description of the subject was given and when officer arrived Wesley R Chappelle was located inside the store. Officers then approached Chappelle when according to reports Chappelle ran from officers and was captured moments later. It was learned from witnesses that Chappelle had taken a bottle of liquor and was attempting to conceal it inside his pants. Chappelle was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
Matthew J Garces, 25 years of age, Address: Belle Chase, La. was arrested on 12/09/2015 @ 8:44 P.M.

An officer was patroling the area of Sixth Street when a vehicle was observed making an improper turn at the intersection of Arenz St. nearly causing a traffic crash. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Matthew J Garces. A drivers license check revealed that Garces drivers license was under suspension. A warrants check was conducted which revealed that several out of town law enforcement agencies held arrest warrant on Garces. Garces was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

The Morgan City Police Deptartment Narcotics Division along with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at an address on Marshall Street. Located inside the residence was Sonia M todd, Tommy D Donati, Phillip J Donati and Michael S Cairns. A search of the residence was conducted and according to reports suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located inside of the residence. The residence was also within the zone of a local school which violates the uniformed controlled dangerous subestance law. Sonia Todd, Tommy Donati, Phillip Donati and Michael Cairns were all placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

An officer responded to an address on Garber Street in regard to a fight. The officer arrived and located Dajia Z Johnson and De'Erin D Thomas at the location who were believed to have been involved in the altercation. A short investigation was conducted and statements were obtained from witnesses which according to reports indicated that Thomas and Johnson had indeed been involved in the altercation. Both Johnson and Thomas were placed under arrest and tranposrted to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

Resisting An Officer

On officer responded to a local business on Hwy 182 in regard to a subject being in the store who had previously been barred from the property. Officers located Kerry A Martin in the area who fit the description of the subject barred from the property. Reports indicate that Martin told officers that he forgot he was barred from the store and it was confirmed by an employee that Martin did indeed go inside the business. Martin was then placed under arrest at which time he began running from officers. After a short foot chase Martin was captured and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Jonah A Steele
An officer responded to a local business on Hwy 182 in regard to an intoxicated subject inside. Officers arrived and located Jonah A Steele who fit the description of the subject. Officers spoke with Steele who was believed to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Reports indicate that employees of the business told officers that Steele had ordered and consumed $18.57 of food and would not pay for the food. Steele was placed under arrest and a search of his person was conducted when officers located suspected Sublingual and Clonazepam. Steele was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
