MCPD Arrest Report 01/08/2015

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police during the last reporting period beginning on 01/07/2016. 


Gerald Sylvester, 26 years of age, Address: Short St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 01/07/2016 @ 1:54 P.M. 


Charges:  Warrant - Possession of Cocaine
                  Warrant - Illegal Carrying of a Weapon


     Gerald Sylvester was previously arrested and incarcerated at the Berwick Police Department in regard to active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department. Sylvester was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he was booked on the warrants and incarcerated.

David M Chapa, 20 years of age, Address: Ingleside, Texas was arrested on 01/07/2016 @ 8:29 P.M. 


Charge:  Theft (under $750.00)


     An officer was dispatched to a local business on Hwy 182 on regard to a theft. The officer arrived and spoke with the managment who told the officers that a subject later identified as David M Chapa went into the business. While inside the business Chapa took a vape machine off of the counter, placed it into his pocket and left the business. Reports indicated that video was provided to the officer when Chapa was observed by the officer taking the vape machine and leaving the business. The officer recognized Chapa from a previous incounter just prior to the incident.  The officer located Chapa a short time later at a local hotel on Roderick St. when Chapa was placed under arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where be was booked and incarcerated.
