Warrant - Failure to Appear for Criminal Neglect of Family
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Hwy 182 near Ditch Avenue. The vehicle was observed making several evasive turns which aroused the officers suspiciouns that the driver of the vehicle may be attempting to avoid being seen by the officer. The vehicle was observed pulling into a residence on Bernice Street when the driver of the vehicle later identified as Reginald Sims got out of the vehicle and began quickly walking away from the area cutting through several residential yards. The officer made contact with Sims when a warrants check revealed that there was an active arrest warrant for Sims held by the 16th Judicial District Court. Sims was placed under arrest for the warrant and handcuffed. Reports indicated that Sims was searched when the officer located suspected methamphetamine, ecstasy and U.S. currency which was believed to be obtained from the sales of illegal drugs on Sims. The location of the incident was within the area of a local chuch in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Officers then inspected the vehicle Sims was observed driving when it was learned that the vehicle had a switched license plate, the vehicle had no insurance and that Sims had a suspended drivers license. Sims was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
