The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 05/24/2016.

Brennan N Skinner, 23 years of age, Address: Grace St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2016 @ 7:45am. 

Charges:  Speeding 34mph in a 15mph School Zone
                  Improper Turning (Failure to Signal)
                  Driving Under Suspension
                  Possession With the Intent to Distribute Marijuana
                  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                  Violation of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Laws (Drug Free Zone)
                  Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
                  Possession of a Firearm While in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
                  No Vehicle Insurance
                  Warrant - Failure to Appear on 04/22/2016 for Unauthorized Use of an Access Card

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Federal Avenue through a school zone at a rate of speed higher than the posted 15mph speed limit. The officer clocked the vehicle at 34mph when the officer attempted to catch up with the vehicle. The vehicle was observed turning onto Greenwood Street then on to Fourth Street without using a turn signal. A traffic stop was conducted when the driver of the vehicle was identified as Brennan N Skinner. During a traffic investigation, the officer learned that Skinner had a suspended drivers license and that the vehicle did not have required liablity insurance. A warrants check revealed that Skinner had an avtive arrest warrant held by the 16th Judicial District Court. Skinner's behavior aroused the officer's suspicions that Skinner may be involved in illegal drug activity. Skinner was placed under arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, reports indcate that the officer located suspected marijuana which was believed to have been packaged for distribution. The officer also located a scale and a loaded firearm which according to reports Skinner was illegally in posession of due to Skinner allegedly being a convicted felon. The location of the incident was also within the area of a local school in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Skinner was transported to the Morgan City Jail where Skinner was booked and remains incarcerated on a $29,050.00 bond. 

Deqwavia J Hall, 29 years of age, Address: Versen St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 05/24/2016 @ 1:56pm. 

Charge:  Warrant - Failure to Appear on 05/03/2016 for Attempted Battery Involving Domestice                                         Violence
 
     Deqwavia J Hill was transported from the Berwick Police Department Jail to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Hall was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 

Brodney T Williams, 26 years of age, Address: N St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 05/24/2016 @ 3:20pm.

Charges:  Warrant - Domestic Abuse Battery
                  Warrant - Domestic Abuse Battery
                  
     Brodney T Williams was located by officers at an address on Egle Street where Williams was arrested on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department and the 16th Judicial District Court. The warrants were obtained from two separate incidents, one reported on February 22, 2016 to the Morgan City Police Department and the other on April 26, 2016 to the St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office, both of incidents of alleged domestic abuse battery. Williams was transported to the Morgan City Jail where Williams was booked and incarcerated.

Roslyn Cortez, 24 years of age, Address: Second St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2016 @ 4:41pm.

Charge:  Warrant - Probation Violation

     Roslyn Cortez was located by officers at a residence on Second Street where Cortez was arrested on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Cortez was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated. 

Jeremy C Ledet, 43 years of age, Address: Keith St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/25/2016 @ 1:01am. 

Charges:  
Driving While Intoxicated
                  Improper Turning (No Turn Signal) 
                  No Vehicle Inspection Sticker

     
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle make an improper turn from Sixth Street onto Aucoin Street then from Aucoin Street onto Federal Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle identified as Jeremy C Ledet. During a traffic investigation, the officer discovered that the vehicle did not have a required motor vehicle inspection sticker. Reports indicated that the officer suspected Ledet to have been drinking and believed that Ledet was intoxicated. Ledet was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing where Ledet sumitted to the Intoxiyzer 5000 yielding a blood alcohol concentration of .115 grams percent. Ledet was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 
Kandace D Francis, 24 years of age, Address: Greenwood St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/25/2016 @ 1:44am. 

Charge:  Aggravated Arson

     Officers responed to an address on Cardinal Street in regard to a report of a distrubance. The officers arrived when they located Kandace D Francis who was reported to have been involved in a verbal disagreement with an occupant of the residence. Francis was instructed by the officers to leave the residence and to not return for the remainder of the night.  Shortley thereafter, officers along with the Morgan City Fire Department responded back to the same address in regard to a call that Francis had started a fire at the residence. The officers arrived when it was learned that the reported fire had been extinguished with a garden hose by an occupant of the residence prior to emergency responders arriving. Francis, who was believed to have fled the area was located by officers moments later. During an investigation, officers uncovered evidence supporting the allegations that Francis had started the reported fire at the residence which was occupied by several people at the time of the incident. Francis was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where Francis was booked and remains incarcerated on a $30,000.00 bond.
