The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 07/06/2016.

Stephen Cortez, 50 years of age, Address: Second St. Morgan City, La .was arrested on 07/05/2016 @ 3:45pm.

Charges:
 Criminal Damage to Property
                  Battery on a Police Officer

     Stephen Cortez who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail was booked on additional charges of criminal damage to propety and battery on a police offier. Officers approached Cortez's cell in regard to Cortez allegedly damging the phone system inside the jail facility. Reports indicate that During the encounter, Cortez committed a battery on one the officers involved. Cortez was booked on the additional charges and remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail.


Carlise Grogan, 25 years of age, Address: Sixth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/06/2016 @ 3:41pm. 

Charges:  
Warrant - Failure to Appear on 12/01/15 for Theft
                  Warrant - Probation Violation

     Carlise Grogan was located by officers on Sixth Street where Grogan was arrested on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Grogan was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated. 

Dantrell I Garrett Jr., 27 years of age, Address: Victor II Blvd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/06/2016 @ 5:27pm. 

Charges:  Resisting An Officer by Giving False Information  
                  Warrant - Failure to Signal
                  Warrant - Driving Under Suspension
                  Warrant - Possession of Marijuana
                  Warrant - Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                  Warrant - Violatoin of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Laws
                  

     Dantrell I Garrett Jr. was located by officers on Victor II Blvd. where Garrett Jr. was arrested on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department. Reports indicate that during an investigation,  Garrett Jr. had given the officers a false name in an attempt to hide his true identitiy and avoid the arrest. The warrants were obtained from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division of an incident in January 2016. Narcotics Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to use a turn signal where Garrett Jr. was identified as the driver of the vehicle. During the investigation reports indicated that Garret Jr. had a suspended drivers license and that he was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia within the area of a drug free zone. The suspected marijuana was sent to a criminalistic laboratory for analysis which was later identified as marijuana according to reports. Garrett Jr. was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
