Arrest Report 02/06/2014

The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 02/05/2014:

        Michael L. Miller, 33 years of age, Address-Midland, La. was arrested on 02/04/2014 @ 11:11pm

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana with Intent to Distribute; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Ocycodone with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle driving by Michael Miller after he observed a traffic violation in the area of Sixth St. and Brashear Ave.  During the stop. according to the report, the subject appeared extremely nervous During the stop, a narcotics canine was summoned to the scene and performed a search of the exterior of the vehicle.  The canine, according to reports exhibited signs of the presence of illegal narcotic odor.  Officer searched the vehicle and were able to located two vaccuum sealed cellophane bags which contained suspected marijuana. a controlled dangerous substance.  Vacuum packaging is a comon trait used by narcotics traffickers to deter narcotics canine dogs from discovering contraband. Officers also located a substance believed to be methamphetamine, a controlled dangerous substance along with several pills of Roxycodone, another Schedule II CDS-  The subject was detained and arrested.  Investigators were able to uncover evidence which implicated the substances were purchased in the Morgan City area and were destined for sales.  The information was used to secure a search warrant for a Belanger Street residence.  Detectives conducted a search warrant and during the search warrant recovered additional evidence.  A large amount of marijuana, also sealed in vacuum packaging was located.  Detectives located Hashish, a Scheduled I CDS, Methamphetamine-a Schedule II CDS, Carisprodol- a Schedule II CDS, Hydrocodone-a Schedule III CDS, Clonazepam-a Schedule III CDS, Diazepam-a Schedule IV CDS,  and items of drug paraphernalia.   Investigators, according to the report, located several items such as scales, vacuum packaging equipment, dehydrators, packaging and other materials commonly used to narcotics traffickers.  Also located during the search, items, which according to the report are commonly used to manufacture synthetic marijuana.  

     The occupant of the resident, Jeremiah Fuhrer was detained and placed under arrest.  Investigators  reportedly located a large amount of U.S. Currency of various denominations and in various locations which was partially divided into various valued stacks.  Which can be another characteristic of narcotics trafficking activity.  The money was seized and discovered to be $47.960.00 in U.S. Currency.  According to reports it was seized for pending forfeiture and beleived to be derived from the illegal sale and procurement of illegal narcotics.  During the subsequent verification of the funds, a counterfeit $100.00 bill was located and removed as evidence.  

     The subjects, Michael Miller and Jeremiah Fuhrer were arrested, and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated. Jeremiah Fuhrer was released after posting an $86,000.00 bond.  

     Jeremiah L. Fuhrer, 39 years of age, Address-Belanger St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 02/50/2014 @ 8:38 hrs.

     The Morgan City Police Department will continue to investigate the incident and make additional arrests if the evidence indicates other subjects were involved.
