MCPD Arrest Report 05/22/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 72-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 108 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 05/19/2017:


Jerroid J. Garrison, 24 years of age, Address- Federal Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/20/2017 @ 3:07 pm.

Charge: Driving Under Suspension
               Unauthorized Use of a Moveable

   Officers responded to a residence on Federal Ave. in regards to a vehicle being used without the owner’s permission. According to reports, the victim stated that Jerroid Garrison had taken her vehicle without her permission. Officers were given a description of the vehicle and it was located in the area of Hwy 182 and Ditch Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and Garrison was identified as the driver. A computer check revealed that Garrison’s driver’s license was under suspension. Garrison was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Robert E. Byrd, 41 years of age, Address- Houma, La. was arrested on 05/20/2017 @ 5:53 pm.

Charge: Possession of Schedule II Drug- Methamphetamine
               Possession of Schedule I Drug- Marijuana
               Violation of Uniform CDS-Drug Free Zone
               Warrant: Failure to Appear (2cts) Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office
   The Morgan City Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Hwy 182. Robert Byrd was a passenger in the vehicle. Byrd gave officers consent to search his person and officers located suspected methamphetamine and marijuana in his possession. The location of the traffic stop was within 2000 ft of a church, which is considered a drug free zone.  A warrants check determined that Byrd also held outstanding warrants for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Byrd was placed under arrest and transported the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.

Jamon Bias, 36 years of age, Address- Second St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 05/20/2017 @ 9:47 pm.

Charge:  Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
                Home Invasion
                Possession of a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone
                Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

  Officers responded to a residence on Egle St. in regards to a disturbance. According to reports, the victim stated that Jamon Bias forcefully entered his home and pointed a firearm at him. The victim was able to flee the residence and noticed that Bias leaving the area in a vehicle. A description of the vehicle was given to officers and the vehicle along with suspect was located on Aucoin St. Reports indicate that Bias did admit to having the firearm and having an altercation with the victim. The location of the incident was within 2000 ft. of a church, which is considered a firearm free zone. Bias is also a convicted felon.  Bias was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Jorge Torres, 43 years of age, Address- Terrebonne St. was arrested on 05/21/2017 @ 3:46 am.
Charge: Stop Sign Violation
                No Driver’s License
                 Improper Lane Usage
                 Driving While Intoxicated
                 Possession of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

   A patrol officer in the area of Fifth and Ferret St. observed a vehicle run a stop at the intersection.   A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Jorge Torres. While speaking with the Torres, the officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Torres was asked to conduct the standard field sobriety test, in which he performed poorly. It was also determined that Torres did not have a valid driver’s license. Torres was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Dept. Once at the police department, Torres submitted to the chemical test for intoxication. Torres results were a .197 g% blood alcohol content. Torres was booked and incarcerated.


Kyle Q. Rhett, 26 years of age, Address- Gen. McArthur Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/21/2017 @ 2:06 pm.

Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines on Driving under Suspension
                Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines on Speeding
                Warrant- Failure to Pay Fines on Contempt of Court

                Hit & Run
                 Careless Operation

     Officers responded to the area of Marguerite St. and LA 70 in regards to a hit and run vehicle crash. According to reports, witnesses stated that a vehicle crashed into the rear of another and the vehicle continued north on Marguerite St. A description of the vehicle was given out and officers located the vehicle on Wren St. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kyle Rhett. Reports indicate that Rhett admitted to crashing into the other vehicle. A computer check of Rhett’s driver’s license was done and it was determined that his license was suspended. Rhett also held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Rhett was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Randal W. McKee, 40 years of age, Address- Gretna, La. was arrested on 05/21/2017 @ 2:22 pm.

Charge:  Warrant- Contempt of Court

    Randal McKee was located at a local business on Brashear Ave. A warrants check was done McKee and it revealed that McKee held an outstanding warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court. McKee was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
