MCPD Arrest Report 06/14/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 43 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result, beginning on 06/13/2017:

Aldwin R. Cox, 51 years of age, address: Union St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 06/13/2017 @ 1:57 p.m.

Charges: Theft under $750

Patrol officers responded a business in the area of Everett St. in regards to a theft. According to reports officers arrived and Aldwin R. Cox was identified as a suspect in the theft. Allegedly Cox had stolen a wallet that contained US Currency and a Cellular Device. Cox was located in the area a short time later. Evidence was obtained in the investigation linking Cox to the theft. Cox was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Joseph J. Thibodeaux, 19 years of age, address: West Ibert St. Franklin, La., arrested on 06/13/2017 @ 4:00 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Direct Contempt of Court

Joseph J. Thibodeaux was located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Thibodeaux was booked into the Morgan City Jail.

Joseph Engleton, 52 years of age, address: Railroad Ave. Morgan City, La., arrested on 06/13/2017 @ 8:43 p.m.

Charges: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

Patrol officers responded to the area of Railroad Ave. in regards to a suspicious subject. According to reports officers arrived and Joseph Engleton was identified as the subject in question. Engleton was found to be in an intoxicated state. Engleton was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Ryan J. Kemp, 33 years of age, address: Joseph St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 06/13/2017 @ 10:37 p.m.

Charges: Possession of SCH I CDS MDMA W/I/T/D
                  Transactions involving Proceeds from Drug Activity
                  Violation of Uniform CDS Law (Drug-Free Zone)
                  Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverages
                  Disregard of a Traffic Control

Patrol officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the area of Apple St. A stop was initiated and Ryan J. Kemp was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports Kemp displayed signs of nervousness. Reports indicate that Kemp was found to be in possession of several tablets of suspect MDMA which was consistent with amounts destined for sale. Also located was U.S. Currency which is believed to be obtained from the illicit sale of illegal narcotics. Kemp also possessed an open alcoholic beverage. The area where the incident had taken place was within a Drug-Free Zone. Kemp was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
