MCPD Arrest Report 08/17/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 42 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 08/16/2017:

Christopher J. Pollard, address: Marshall St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/16/2017 @ 9:18 a.m.

Charges: Driving under Suspension
                 Improper Turning
                 Warrant: F.T.A. for Contempt of Court 08/03/2017 (2 counts)

Patrol officers observed a vehicle in the area of Everett St. negotiate an improper turn. A stop was initiated and Christopher J. Pollard was identified as the operator of the vehicle. According to reports, Pollard’s Louisiana Driver’s License was under suspension. It was also learned that Pollard held active arrest warrants through the 16th Judicial Court. Pollard was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Georgette Drury 08162017
Georgette E. Drury, 39 years of age, address: Clark Rd. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/16/2017 @ 11:15 a.m.

Charges: Theft between $5,000 to $25,000

Melvin C. Sylvester Jr., Rebecca Sylvester, and Georgette E. Drury were located and arrested at the Morgan City Police Department on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division in regards to a theft from a local business in the area of LA 182. The thefts occurred on several different incidences from July to August of 2017 where items of merchandise were taken without being paid for. It was learned that the amount of merchandise taken totaled over $6000 dollars. Melvin Sylvester, Rebecca Sylvester, and Georgette E. Drury were identified as suspects and evidence was uncovered during the investigating linking them to the crime. Warrants were prepared for their arrest. All three were booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. The investigation is still ongoing.

William S. Deans Sr., 39 years of age, address: Roselawn Dr. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/16/2017 @ 1:16 p.m.

Charges: Violation of a Protective Order

Patrol officers responded to the Morgan City Police Department in regards to a violation of a protective order complaint. According to reports, officers arrived and learned that William S. Deans Sr. had approached the victim and threatened them. The victim currently held an Order of Protection against Deans Sr. Deans Sr. was located at his residence on Roselawn Dr. where he was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail, booked and incarcerated.

Nicholas Morris II, 29 years of age, address: Cross La Rue St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 08/16/2017 @ 7:15 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Simple Battery

Nicholas Morris II was located and arrested in the area of LA 70 on an active arrest warrant held by the Morgan City Police. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers in May of 2017 when the victim alleges that they were struck by Morris. Morris had left the prior to officers arrival. Warrants were prepared for Morris’ arrest. Morris was booked into the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
