MCPD Arrest Report 09/12/2017

Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour reporting period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 34 calls for service. The following persons were arrested as a result beginning on 09/11/2017:

Angel Perez, 48 years of age, address: Elizabeth St. Houma, La., arrested on 09/11/2017 @ 12:00 a.m.

Charges: No Drivers License
                 Improper Lane Usage
                 Inspection Required
                 No Insurance
                 Resisting an Officer

Patrol officers observed a vehicle being operated in the area of LA 182 swerving from lane to lane. A stop was initiated and Angel Perez was later identified as the operator of the vehicle. Perez provided officers with a false name initially. According to reports, it was found during the investigation that the vehicle Perez was operating has no insurance or inspection as required by Louisiana Law and Perez was found not to possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License. Perez was arrested and transorted to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.  

Jerri  Champine Dufren 0911217

Jerri L. Champine-Dufren, 33 years of age, address: Bush St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 09/11/2017 @ 8:07 a.m.

Charges: Possession of SCH II CDS (Methamphetamine)
                 Possession of SCH IV CDS (Alprazolam)
                 Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense
                 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
                 Illegal Use of CDS in the presence of Juveniles
                 Warrant: Theft by Shoplifting

Patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of Onstead St. in regards to Jerri L. Champine-Dufren holding active warrants for her arrest through the Morgan City Police. Officers arrived at the residence and located Champine-Dufren. According to reports, Champine-Dufren was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine, Alprazolam, Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. There was a juvenile located at the residence during the investigation. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on September 1, 2017, when officers responded to a local business in the area of LA 70 in regards to a shoplifter. Reports indicate that Champine-Dufren allegedly switched bar codes from cheaper items and placed them on more expensive ones. When confronted by management Champine-Dufren fled the scene with the items. Champine-Dufren was identified as a suspect and evidence was uncovered linking her to the crime. Warrants were prepared for Champine-Dufren’s arrest. Champine-Dufren was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Heather D. LaCoste, 33 years of age, address: Marshall St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 09/11/2017 @ 3:58 p.m.

Charges:  Warrant: F.T.A. to Pay Fine on 08/29/2017 (4 Counts)

Heather D. LaCoste was located and arrested at the Lafayette Parish Detention Center on active arrest warrants held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. LaCoste was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.

Cregory L. Johnson, 25 years of age, address: Egle Mill Ln. Morgan City, La., arrested on 09/11/2017 @ 5:24 p.m.

Charges: Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
                 Resisting an Officer

Patrol officers responded to the area of Brashear Ave. in regards to a suspicious subject. According to reports, officers arrived and Cregory L. Johnson was located sleeping on a porch of a residence. Johnson was found to be in an intoxicated state. After receiving medical attention Johnson was arrested. Reports indicate that Johnson resisted officers when he refused to enter the patrol car for transport. Johnson was eventually placed in the unit at which time he was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Ashley Clark 09112017

Ashley Clark, 39 years of age, address: Seventh St. Morgan City, La., arrested on 09/11/2017 @ 5:48 p.m.

Charges: Warrant: Theft by Shoplifting
                 Warrant: Resisting an Officer

Ashley Clark was located and arrested in the area of Orange St. on active arrest warrants held by the Morgan City Police. The warrants stem from an investigation conducted by patrol officers on July 3, 2016, when they responded to a local business in the area of LA 182 in regards to a shoplifter. According to reports, Ashley Clark was identified as the suspect and evidence was uncovered linking her to the crime. Clark allegedly took several items from the business without paying for them. Officers attempted to make contact with Clark but when approached she fled the area on foot. Warrants were prepared for her arrest. Clark was transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
