How do I obtain a copy of a report?

The Morgan City Police Department's Records Section serves as the memory of the department.  Reports can be obtained by contacting the records clerk of the department at 985-380-4605, or by going to the front reception desk located within the administrative building and requesting a copy of the report needed.  There is a $5.00 fee per report. No Cash is accepted and shall be in the form of a money order.

How should I contact the Morgan City Police Department for Non-Emergency situations?

The Non-Emergency lines to the Morgan City Police Department are 985-380-4605.

After 4:00pm, these lines are switches to the Police Communications Officers on duty and calls will be answered the same as the emergency lines.

How do I find out about road closures due to weather?

The Morgan City Police Department controls all avenues and streets within the city limits of Morgan City.  The Police Department can provide information regarding these streets and avenues to the public.  Major highways and state roadways are controlled by the Louisiana State Police.  The Morgan City Police Department can obtain the needed information and provide same upon request.

How do I leave a tip or provide information to the police department?

Contact the Morgan City Police Department at (985)380-4605 and ask to speak to the division that the information is related to. If on a weekend or after hours ask to speak to the patrol supervisor. You can provide your information to ensure that it is passed on. You can either provide your information or remain anonymous?

How do I request a demonstration or have police personnel attend my event?

Contact the Morgan City Police Department Non-Emergency line at (985)380-4605. Request to speak to Captain Betty Augman or Lieutenant John Schaff and provide the information to your event.

How do I pay a citation I was issued?

There are two ways to pay for a citation issued by an officer. All citations are forwarded to the 6th Ward City Court of Morgan City. You can either present yourself in person at the Morgan City Court located next to the police department at 7261 Hwy 182 Morgan City, La 70380 or you can pay your citation online at www.morgancitytix.com.

How do I get involved in the Neighborhood Watch Program?

The Morgan City Police Department Neighborhood Watch Program consist of 12 sections through out the City of Morgan City. Meetings for each section are held periodically and will be posted on our website at www.morgancitypolice.org and on four Morgan City Police Department Facebook page.

How do I file a formal compalint against an officer?

The Morgan City Police Department holds a standard of honor and integrity. If you are wishing to file a complaint on an officer you can contact the Non-Emergency Line at the Morgan City Police Department at (985)380-4605. Ask to speak with the Enforcement Captain Betty Augman and she provide with information on how to file a formal complaint. All complaints related to corrections ask for the Administrative Captain Teddy Liner and he can provide information on how to provide a formal complaint. All complaints are thoroughly investigated.

How can I compliment an officer?

The Morgan City Police Department likes to make it a practice to compliment officers on a job well done. Unfortunately not everything is seen by supervisors so the Morgan City Police Department depends on the general public to analyze officer performance. If you would like to compliment an officer on an encounter you have had with them please contact the Morgan City Police Department Non-Emergency Line at (985)380-4605 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and asked to speak to the Captain. 

How do I find out information on someone incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail?

Contact the Non-Emergency Line at the Morgan City Police Department and ask for the Correctional Facility. You can present your questions to correctional officers. If questions require further assistance ask to speak with a supervisor.

How can I speak to the Chief of Police?

Chief James F. Blair is readily available to assist the public with their needs in providing police services. If you are wishing to speak with Chief Blair contact the Non-Emergency Line (985)380-4605. Ask for the Secretary to the Chief of Police Amanda L.M. Trigg and she will assist you in provide you a meeting with the Chief.

How do I find out information on a case investigated by the Investigations Division?

Contact the Morgan City Police Department Emergency Line at (985)380-4605 Mon-Fri 8:00 A.M. through 4:00 P.M. and ask to speak with investigations. You will be forwarded to a detective who will assist you in speaking with the investigator that is investigating your case.
