Hit and Run Suspect Arrested

Caffery J Williams, 50 year of age, Address: Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/21/2016 @ 5:26pm. 

Charges:   Felony Hit and Run Driving
                   Obstruction of Justice
                   Possession of Cocaine
                   Violation of Uniformed Controlled Dangerous Substance Laws
                   Driving Under Suspension

     In the early morning hours of September 18, 2016 the Morgan City Police Department began an investigation of a hit and run involving a fatality which occurred on Hwy 182 near Grizzaffi Street. It was determind that a male pedestrian who was pronounced dead on scene, had been struck by a vehicle that then fled the area. During the course of the investigation Morgan City Police Department Detectives developed Caffery J Williams as a suspect in the incident. Investigators executed a search warrant at a Garber Street residence where Williams was believed to reside. During the search investigators uncovered evidence of Williams's involvment in the hit and run and that Williams had attempted to dispose of some of the evidence. Investigators also located suspected cocaine in the residence and a drivers license check revealed that Williams had a suspended drivers license. The location of the incident was with in the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Williams was arrested and booked into the Moran City Jail where he remains incarcerated on a $100,000 bond.

An officer responded to a local medical facility on La. Hwy 70 in regard to an assault. The officer arrived where the officers spoke with several witnesses to the incident. The officers was told that Carla J Johnson had just left the facility and made comments of committing bodliy harm to several people inside the facility. Johnson was located by officers in the area moments later where he was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

Samuel LaCoste, 38 years of age, Address: Duke St. Moran City, La. was arrested on 09/17/2016 @ 2:15pm.

     Officers responded to a residence on Cypress Street in regard to burglary in progress. The officers arrived when they located a subject later identified as Samuel LaCoste comming out of the residence with several items in his hands. Officers also located Samantha M Williams in the area of the residence. Both LaCoste and Williams were detained for further investigation.  Officers spoke with the home owner to told officers that LaCoste and Williams did not have permission to enter the residence. During an investigation, reports indicate that the officers uncovered evidence of the alleged burglary and that Williams had posted as a look out for LaCoste during the burglary. Both LaCoste and Williams were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where they were booked and incarcerated.
 

Sabrina Scully, 21 years of age, Address: Velma Court Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/17/2016 @ 11:13pm.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Fifth Street near Railroad Avenue with improper tail lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Sabrina Scully.  A drivers license check revealed that Scully did not have a valid drivers license. During a traffic investigation, reports indicated that Scully's behavior aroused the officers suspicions that she may be involved in illegal drug activity. A search of the vehicle was conducted when officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Scully was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated. 

Sydney V Bassa, 21 years of age, Address: Chestnut Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/17/2016 @ 9:27pm. 

Charge:  Warrant - Contempt of Court

     Sydney V Bassa was transported from the Patterson Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Bassa was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 

Shenandoah S Drury, 37 years of age, Address: Seventh St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/18/2016 @ 12:35am.

                  Driving While Intoxicated
                  Open Container of Alcohol Within Vehicle

     A patrolling officers observed a vehicle with improper tail lighting traveling in the area of Duke Street near Ninth Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Shenandoah S Drury. A drivers license check revealed that Drury did not have a valid drivers license and an open container of alcohol was observed inside the vehicle. During a traffic investigation, reports indicated that Drury was suspected to have been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated. Drury was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for further chemical testing where Drury submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 yielding a blood alcohol concentration of .179 grams percent. Drury was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 

Glynn A Guidry Jr., 36 years of age, Address: Carline St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/18/2016 @ 7:10pm. 

Charges:  Failure to Appear for Appearing in Public Intoxicated

     Glynn A Guidry was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Guidry was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated. 

Ronald J Armond Jr., 22 years of age, Address: Murial St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/18/2016 @ 11:40pm.

     Varice K Richardson was arrested during court proceedings in the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. During the proceedings, reports indicate evidence was uncovered of Richardson committing a battery involving domestic abuse. Richardson was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

     Kedesha N Scott, Tamera L Manning, Deqwavia J Hall, Danielle L Bennett and Eulalia H McCoy were currently incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail. On 09/21/2016 reports indicated that the above subjects were observed by correctional officers to be invovled in a fight during recreation time in the jail. The subjects were separtated and booked on additional charges of fighting and remain incarcerated.

     On 09/18/2016 the Morgan City Police Department began an investigation of a felony hit and run invovling a fatality on Hwy 182. It was believed that the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Hwy 182 which resulted in a fatality when the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. During the course of the investigation, Morgan City Police Department Detectives developed Caffery J Williams as a suspect in the incident. A search warrant was executed on a residence on Garber Street where Wiliams was believed to reside. During the search, reports indicated that investigators uncovered evidence of Williams's invovlment and that Williams had attempted to dispose of some of the said evidence. A drivers license check revealed that Williams had a suspended drivers license and investigators also located suspected cocaine inside the residence. The location of the incident was within the area of a drug free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Williams was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail where he remains incarcerated. 

Johnathan J Lindsey, 32 years of age, Address: North Bayou Black Rd. Gibson, La. was arrested on 09/21/2016 @ 5:56pm.

Matilda Amos, 23 years of age, Address: Pond Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/21/2016 @ 7:00pm.

     On 09/21/2016 Matilda Amos who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail was observed by a correctional officer committing a battery on another inmate.. Amos was escorted to be additionally booked when reports indicate Amos allegedly damaged property in the jail. Amos was additionally charged and remains incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Veterans Blvd. with improper tail lighting. A traffic stop was conducated and the driver of the vehicle identified as Tommy L Harding. A drivers license check revealed that Harding had a suspended driver license. Harding was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated. 

James M Murray, 28 years of age, Address: Arkansas St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/22/2016 @ 3:55am.

     The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Unit along with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narctoics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Egle Street in Morgan City. Investigators entered the residence and located Stacey A Tabor who was identified as an occupant of the residence. A search of the residence was conducted when according to reports investigators located suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, clonazepam, zolpidem and adderall all of which were suspected to be intended for distribution. Investigators also located suspected drug paraphernalia along with U.S. Currency which was believed to have been obtained from the sales of illegal narctoics. The location of the incident was within the area of a durg free zone in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Tabor was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where she was booked and incarcerated. A hold was placed on Tabor by Probation and Parole. 

James Nicholas, 38 years of age, Address: Birch St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/20/2016 @ 2:35am. 

Charge:  Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated

     A patrolling officer observed a subject walking in the area of Grizzaffi Street near a local convenience store who appeared to be stumbling. The officer spoke with the subject identified as James Nicholas. Reports indicate that Nicholas was suspected to have been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated. Nicholas was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 09/15/2016.

Kevin A. Adams, 28 years of age, Adddress- Second St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 09/15/2016 @ 10:22 am. 

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 3rd Offense
               Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
               Violation of Uniform CDS- Drug Free Zone
               Warrant- Probation Violation 

   Officers were dispatched to a local motel on Hwy 182 in regards to Agents with the Office of Probation and Parole had detained an individual that had illegal narcotics in his possession. Officers arrived and idenitied the individual as Kevin Adams.  Officers also located items used to smoke illegal narcotics in his possession. The location of the motel is within a drug free zone. Adams was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. 

Louis K. Sands, 57 years of age, Address- Martin Lane, Amelia, La. was arrested on 09/15/2016 @ 
8:26 pm.

Charge: Driving Under Suspension
               No Tail Lights

Justin Ford, 25 years of age, Address- Beadle St. Morgan City, La.was arrested on 09/15/2016 @ 8:26 pm.

Charge: Trailer and Towed Vehicles
               No Driver's License

   A patrol officer in the area of Railroad Ave and Poncio St. observed a vehicle towing another vehicle using a strap. The vehicle being towed did not have any working lights. A vehicle stop was conducted. The drivers of both vehicles were asked to produce valid driver's licenses. Driver of the first vehicle, Justin Ford was unable to produce a valid driver's license. A computer check revealed that Ford does not have a driver's license. The driver of the other vehicle, Louis Sands, a computer check revealed that his driver's license was under suspenision. Both Ford and Sands were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
