Arrest Report 06/09/2014

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 06/09/2014:

 

 

Keindra N. McDaniel, 27 years of age, Address-Apple St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/06/2014 @ 12:29pm

Charge: Theft-Less than $500.00 (6 Counts)

     Officers responded to a complaint at an Eighth St. restaurant in regards to a theft.  Officers arrived and were advised that the managment suspected an employee of commiting a theft of funds from a register.  The employee, Keindra McDaniel was detained and upon viewing video surveillence evidence, was observed removing funds from the register on six different times.  Upon review, the total funds removed was $295.52.  McDaniel admitted to officers that she had committed the theft, advising she thought she would never be caught.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration. 

 

 

Houston H. Cooley, 50 years of age, Address-Eighth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/06/2014 @ 4:12pm

Charge: Warrant: Home Improvement Fraud

     Houston Cooley was located on Eighth St. in Morgan City and placed under arrest on a warrant secured by Morgan City Police Detectives for Home Improvement Fraud.  The warrant was secured after an investigation levied against Cooley by a victim who advised that she was approached at a local restaurant by Cooley who offered his services to her regarding a home improvement.  During the encounter, the victim reportedly paid Cooley $3,825.00 to begin the renovations on February 04, 2014.  The victim later became suspicious of Cooley and attempted to cancel the work and have the money refunded but was told the work would be completed.  During the investigation, detectives learned that Cooley had never ordered materials as he had reported to the victim.  The work has never been started nor the funds returned to the victim.  Cooley was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Joseph A. Acosta, 22 years of age, Address-Grove St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/06/2014 @ 4:47pm

Charge: Simple Criminal Damage to Property ($400.00)

     Joseph Acosta was arrested after officers responded to a disturbance at a Grove St. residence.  Officers arrived and learned that Joseph Acosta had been involved in a verbal altercation at the residence and during the altercation, broke a wooden gate and a door to a travel trailer parked at the residence.  The total value of damages was estimated at $400.00.  Joseph Acosta was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Tracy Thomas, 50 years of age, Address-Sixth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/06/2014 @ 6:00pm

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Pay Fine-Expired Drivers License

     Tracy Thomas was booked and incarcerated on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department after being transported to the Morgan City Jail facility from L.E.C. in Centerville to be housed.  The warrant was discovered and Thomas booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Jennifer S. Wilson, 45 years of age, Address-Belanger St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/07/2014 @ 2:16am

Charge: Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated; No Drivers License on Person; Improper Lighting

     Patrolling officers observed a vehicle traveling on La. Hwy 182 without both functioning headlights and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, identified as Jennifer Wilson could not produce a drivers license.  Officers suspected that the subject was impaired and offered to conduct a field sobriety test in which the subject, Wilson refused.  Wilson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .121g%.  Wilson was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Ariel P. Jorge, 22 years of age, Address-Trevino St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 06/07/2014 @ 9:43am

Charge: Possession of Marijuana

     Officers received a complaint of a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner in the area of Everette St.  Officers located the vehicle in the 900 block of Everette St. and came into contact with the driver, Ariel Jorge.  As Jorge was attempting to remove his drivers license from his pocket, a handrolled cigarette which contained suspected marijuana fell from his pocket.  It was seized by the officers and identified as marijuana by Jorge.  Jorge was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Donald P. Laughlin, 44 years of age, Address-Third St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/07/2014 @ 4:03pm

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDs-Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute

     Officers responded to a complaint of a subject selling illegal narcotics in the area of Highway 182 and Grizzaffi St.  Officers responded to the area and located Donald Laughlin who fit the description of the suspect.  Laughlin was questioned by officerrs and during the encounter, officers located several small celophane bags of suspected marijuana inside the subject's backpack.  Donald Laughlin was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Anthony D. Richardson Jr., 32 years of age, Address-Park St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 06/08/2014 @ 2:12am

     Officers responded to a Roderick St. business regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived and came into contact with a male subject, Anthony Richardson Jr. who was involved in the disturbance.  Officers learned that Richardson was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  Richardson was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Daniel A. Sauceda, 34 years of age, Address-Gibson, La. was arrested on 06/09/2014 @ 12:46am

Charge: Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (2nd Offense); No Drivers License; Improper Lane Usage

     Patrolling officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on La. Highway 182 and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Sauceda, could not produce a valid drivers license.  Sauceda, who exhibited signs of impairment was given a field sobriety test in which he failed.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test.  The results indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .147g%.  He was booked and remains incarcerated.

Charge: Possession of Schedule II CDS-Oxycodone (2nd Offense); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; No Seat Belt

          A patrolling officer detained a vehicle and it's driver after the driver was observed not to be wearing a seat belt.  The driver, Danny Freia was identified and during the stop, appeared extremely nervous and was observed reaching into his pocket repeatedly.  The officer conducted a safety frisk and located a straw which contained residue that was identified by Freia as Oxycodone, a controlled dangerous substance.  Freia was also found to possess a bottle which contained several tablets of Oxycodone.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     Christpher Moses was located at the Lafourch Parish Detention Center and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated into the Morgan City Police Jail facility. 

 

 

Kevin J. Drexler, 31 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/04/2014 @ 7:32pm

Charge: No Driver License (2nd Offense); No Insurance; No License Plate; Failure to Register Vehicle

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle in the area of Cottonwood St. near Victor II with an altered temporary license plate and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, Kevin Drexler, could not produce a valid drivers license, nor adequate vehicle registration.  The vehicle was also discovered to be uninsured.  The driver, Drexler, was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Disturbing the Peace

     Morgan City Police Department officers responded to a disturbance on Oriole St. in Brownell Homes and located a large crowd.  They also located a male subject shouting obscenities and loud derisive language towards the crowd.  The subject, Charles White was given several opportunities and requests to cease his behavior but refused.  The crowd, which included several small children began to disperse,however, White continued his behavior.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Federal Ave. near Belanger St. with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Myrissa Girard.  While speaking with the driver and the occupant, Skylia Concienne, officers became suspicious that the subjects may possess marijuana, a Schedule I controlled substance.  During a search of the suspects and vehicle, officers located suspected marijuana along with several items of drug paraphernalia.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.

Ricky L. Brown, 60 years of age, Address-Grizzaffi St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/03/2014 @ 3:23pm

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated; Resisting an Officer with Force; Warrant: Failure to Appear-Disturbing the Peace

     Officers were dispatched to the Highway 90 Bridge in regards to a subject who had possibly fallen on a bicycle.  Officers arrived and located a male subject, Ricky Brown on the bridge with a bicycle lying at his feet.  Brown had abrasions on his face.  Officers attempted to check on the condition of the subject and officer assistance.  Brown, who appeared highly impaired and intoxicated began to become belligerent towards the officer.  Brown was handcuffed and escorted from the bridge to an awaiting police unit at which time he became combative towards the officers and had to be subdued.  Brown was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where an additional warrant for his arrest was discovered.  He was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Ruben P. Leon, 32 years of age, Address-Degravelle Rd. Amelia, La. was arrested on 06/03/2014 @ 10:52pm

Charge: Speeding; No Drivers License; Driving While Intoxicated

     A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle traveling on Highway 182 near Myrtle St. and detained to the vehicle and it's driver to investigate.  The driver, Ruben Leon produced a Mexican I.D. card but could not produce a valid drivers license.  Leon, who exhibited signs of impairment, admitted to the consumption of alcoholic beverage and was given a field sobriety test in which he failed.  The subject, Ruben Leon was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test results indicating a blood alcohol concentration of .15g%.  Ruben Leon was booked and incarcerated.

Arrest Report 06/02/2014

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 05/30/2014:

 

 

Melvin East, 53 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/30/3014 @ 11:33am

Charge: Warrant: Theft of Goods (Under $100.00) 2 Counts

     Melvin East, who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail facility was identified by Detectives as the same subject who had committed a theft of goods from the same pharmacy on two prior occassions on May 21, 2014 and May 23, 2014.  Detectives were able to identify the subject through the use of video surveillence evidence and observed the subject commit the theft of bottles of alcohol in those incidents.  Detectives secured an arrest warrant and booked the subject on those charges.  He remains incarcerated.

A patrolling officer observed Vincent Thomas in the area of Highway 182 and Cottonwood and was aware of outstanding warrants for his arrest.  Thomas was detained as he attempted to leave the area in a vehicle and placed under arrest.  At the time of his arrest, Vincent Thomas was found to be in possession of a Schedule I CDS-Synthetic Marijuana on his person and was additionally charged.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated.

A patrolling officer observed a female walking on U.S. Hwy 182 and stopped to investigate.  The female, identified as Joquisha Mingo made several attempts to reach into her pocket during the encounter raising the officers safety concerns.  During a weapons frisk, Mingo was found to possess a glass pipe which contained  suspected marijuana.  The pipe is commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics and deemed as paraphernalia.  Mingo was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.  Mingo had several prior convictions regarding the possession of paraphernalia. 

 

 

Tyler J. Davidson, 21 years of age, Address-Pharr St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 05/31/2014 @ 3:01pm

Officers were dispatched to a Highway 182 convenience store in regards to a subject passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle.  Officers arrived and located the subject, Tyler Davidson inside his vehicle.  After several attempts, Davidson was awakened and found to be disoriented.  During the encounter, Davidson made statements indicating a prior drug use.  Davidson, refused to allow officers request to search his vehicle for illegal contraband.  A narcotics K-9 which had responded to the scene conducted a sweep of the exterior of the vehicle and indicated the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics.  During the subsequent search, officers located suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia in the center console of the vehicle.  Davidson was arrested, transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Warrant: Accessory after the Fact to Armed Robbery; Warrant: Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS; Warrant: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone

On May 31, 2014 at 8:35pm officers responded to a complaint of an armed robbery in the area of Orange St. and Federal Ave.  As officers arrived in the area they secured a description of the suspect involved.  As officers searched the area, an officer encountered two subjects who matched the description of the suspect and attempted to detain the subjects for questioning.  Both subjects fled from officers and a chase ensued.  Officers were able to apprehend both subjects in the area and identified the subjects as Kerry Martin and Johnathan Evans.  Officers were also able to recover a small handgun along with a large celophane bag which contained 18 individual packages of suspected marijuana which had be discarded by the subjects during the chase. Also recovered from Evans was $225.00 in U.S. Currency which was reportedly taken during the robbery.   Johnathan Evans was positively identified by the victim as the person who had committed the armed robbery.  He was arrested and charged.  The area of Orange St. and Federal Avenue where the incident occurred is a posted "Firearm Free" zone, furtermore, the area is within 1000 ft. of a Drug Free School Zone.  Evans was additionally charged;  He was booked and remains incarcerated.   Kerry Martin, who had originally fled from officers  during the incident was initially booked with Resisting an Officer and released. 
     Although Evans was arrested and positively identified, Detectives continued to investigate the incident and during the investigation, recovered evidence suggesting that Kerry Martin was involved after the armed robbery by attempting to discard and conceal evidence in the crime.  Martin was accused of attempting to discard and conceal the weapon used along with the Marijuana which was located.  Martin, who had bonded out on the original charge was located and arrested on warrants which had been filed by detectives.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he also remains incarcerated.

     Officers responding to a complaint of a disturbance on Highway 182 came into contact with Steven Gray who was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department.  Gray was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Angela Weber, 46 years of age, Address-Saturn Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/01/2014 @ 12:32am

Officers responded to a complaint of a subject causing a disturbance at a Highway 182 lounge.  The officers arrived and located Angela Weber who had been identified by management as the subject causing the disturbance and refusing to leave the premises.  Officers made contact with Weber and attempted to escort the subject from the property.  Weber, who appeared intoxicated, continued to use loud profane language, continuing in her actions.  She was eventually arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

William B. Harrison, 60 years of age, Address-Wise St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 06/01/2014 @ 11:47pm

Williiam Harrison, who had been located by Berwick Police was located and arrested by Morgan City Officers on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  He was transported to the Morgan City Jail facility where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Brent M. Carver, 24 years of age, Address-Cortez, Thibodaux, La. was arrested on 06/01/2014 @ 5:36pm

Charge: Improper Lane Usage; Violation of Registration Provisions; Expired Vehicle Registration; No Registration Certificate; No Liability Insurance; Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of CDS

A patrolling officer stopped a vehicle on Youngs Rd. in Morgan City after the vehicle crossed the center line almost striking the police unit.  The officer identified the driver as Brent Carver.  Carver could not provide liablity insurance on his vehicle as well as any motor vehicle registration.  The officer observed that the license plate had been altered in a way to misidentify the expiration of the license plate.  The subject, Carver was found to possess celophane bags which contained suspected marijuana along with other items of paraphernalia inside his vehicle.  The subject, Carver was also found to possess a 9mm handgun which was in the presence of the illegal narcotics.  Brent Carver was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven on Highway 182 by subjects not utilizing their passenger restraints.  The officer stopped to investigate.  The driver, Rodric Brown was found to be operating a vehicle with no drivers license, no vehicle registration nor motor vehlcle insurance.  Duirng the stop, Brown who appeared extremely nervous was found to possess a celophane bag which contained suspected marijuana.  Brown was  placed under arrest and handcuffed.  As the officer was escorting Brown to the police unit, he attempted to break away and escape.  The officer was able to apprahend the subject, restrain him and place him in the rear of the police unit.  The passenger in the vehicle, who was also not wearing a passenger restraint, was identified as Tradasha Brooks who was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Patterson Police Department.  She was also arrested.  Both subjects were transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.
