Russell C. Scruggs, 31 years of age, Address-Foxworth, Miss. wasa rrested on 05/29/2014 @ 1:30 pm

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Appear for D.W.I. 2nd Offense

Russell C. Scruggs was located at a correctional facility in Angie, La. and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on an outstanding warrant.  He remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Roosevelt Robertson, 60 years of age, Address-Egle St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/29/2014 @ 4:06pm

Charge: Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; Stop Sign Violation

     Officers responded to a vehicle crash near the area of Brashear Ave. and Seventh St.  When officers arrived, they identified a driver involved, Roosevelt Robertson.  Robertson was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  During the crash investigation, Robertson was accused of failing to yield to traffic from a stop sign which resulted in a collision.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Weslynn M. Martinez, 25 years of age, Address-Golden Meadow, Louisiana was arrested on 05/23/2014 @ 1:19pm

Charge: Fugitive from Lafourche Parish

     A female, Weslynn Martinez, who led Louisiana State Police as well as the Morgan City Police Department, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department and Berwick Police Department on a vehicle chase, was booked into the Morgan City Jail facility after she fled from Louisiana State Police and Lafourche Parish authorities after allegedly causing a Hit & Run crash in Lafourche Parish.  The suspects vehicle eventually ended up in Morgan City at Seventh St. and Brashear Ave. after she collided with two other vehicles.  Martinez, who received minor injuries was treated at Teche Regional for minor injuries.  She was booked into the Morgan City Jail facility where she was immedately released to Louisiana State Troopers to be transported back to Lafourche Parish where the incident began.  

 

 

 

Juan Ruiz, 29 years of age, Address-Adams St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/23/2014 @ 7:23 pm

Charge: No Drivers License; No Insurance; Resisting an Officer by False Information; No Brake Lights

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 182 with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle was detained and during questioning, attempted to conceal his true identity to officers, telling officers he did not have any documentation.  The officer was able to discover his true identity and learned that the subject did not possess a valid drivers license, nor vehicle insurance.  The subject, Juan Ruiz was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Daniel Etchevers-Vargas, 40 years of age, Address-Golden Meadow, La. was arrested on 05/23/2014 @ 10:03pm

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated

Officers were dispatched to a Brashear Ave. restaurant regarding an intoxicated subject.  Officers arrived and located a male subject, Daniel Etchevers-Vargas who was accused of loitering in the business throughout the day.  The subject, who was impaired  and smelled of alcoholic beverage could not provide for adequate transportation.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Terrence L. Johnson, 31 years of age, Address-Terrebone St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 3:23am

Charge: Possession of Synthetic Marijuana

Officers were dispatched to Teche Regional in regards to a suspicious subject.  After arriving, they were advised by security personnel of a male subject, who was acting strange and approaching others in the hospital.  Officers located the subject, Terrence Johnson and began to question him.  During the encounter, Johnson was found to be in possession of a handrolled cigar which contained suspected synthetic marijuana.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Regina Hebert, 34 years of age, Address-Clark Rd. Bayou Vista, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 2:55am

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated.

Regina Hebert was arrested after officers were summoned to a Highway 182 motel in regards to an intoxicated female who was refusing to leave the premises.  Officers arrived and located Hebert in an impaired condition.  Officers made attempts to secure assistance for Ms. Hebert but were unsuccessful due to her intoxicated state.  She was arrested after she refused management request to leave the premises.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Anthony Jerrell Dixon, 24 years of age, Address-Everette St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 11:25am

Charge: Warrant: Attempted First Degree Murder (2 Counts); Warrant: Assault by Drive By Shooting

Dequante Q. Wesley, 20 years of age, Address-Third St. Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 3:42pm

 

Charge: Warrant: Attempted First Degree Murder (2 Counts); Warrant: Assault by Drive by Shooting

     Two subjects sought by Morgan City Police Detectives on warrants stemming from a May 20, 2014 shooting which left one person injuried have turned themselves in to the Morgan City Police Department.  Bothe Dequante Wesley and Anthony Dixon surrendered to the Morgan City Police Department on May 24, 2014 and were charged in the shooting which occured on Cherry St.  The shooting left James A. Kenner with a gunshot wound to the head.  Kenner's condition has been upgraded to "Stable" condition however his long term prognosis is uncertain.  The Morgan City Police Department is urging anyone with any information regarding this incident please contact the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division @ 985-384-2310.

 

 

Paul R. Stelly, 45 years of age, Address-Tupelo St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 2:33pm

Charge: Warrant: Simple Battery-Domestic

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being operated by a driver not wearing a seatbelt and stopped the vehicle in the area of Sixth St. and Marguerite St. to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle, Paul Stelly was discovered to be wanted on an arrest warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  The warrant stemmed from a domestic incident which Stelly is accused of choking and striking a female at his residence during an arguement on January 31, 2014.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

David S. Blair, 37 years of age, Address-Bush St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 5:49pm

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated; Domestic Abuse Battery (2 Counts); Simple Battery (2 Counts)

     Officers were dispatched to a Bush Sr. residence regarding a disturbance.  Officers arrived and were advised that a male subject, David S. Blair was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at the residence.  Witnesses advised that the subject, during the disturbance, struck two subjects who also lived in the residence and is accused of striking two other subjects who attempted to intervene.  The subject was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Lawrence G. Francois, 43 years of age, Address-Orange St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 6:08pm

Charge: Simple Battery

Officers were dispatched to a Federal Ave. convenience store in regards to a subject striking a female inside the store.  Officers arrived and were advised that Lawrence Francois had struck a female inside the store during a disturbance.  Officers were able to secure video which confirmed the battery.  Francois was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

Milton C. Boudreaux, 48 years of age, Address-Lizabeth Dr. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/24/2014 @ 7:23pm

Charge: Possession of Synthetic Marijuana; Obstruction of Public Passages; Appearing in an Intoxicated Condition

Officers were dispatched to property at Levee Rd. and Front St. regarding a subject who was trespassing on the property.  Officers arrived to locate a male subject, Milton Boudreaux in the accompany of a 7 year old juvenile.  Boudreaux, who appeared intoxicated was questioned and found to possess a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics along with suspected synthetic marijuana.  Boudreaux's vehicle was also found to be blocking a public access to the property.  Boudreaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.  The juvenile was released to family members. 

 

 

Brandon M. Scott, 29 years of age, Address-Catherine St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 05/25/2014 @ 1:41am

Charge: Warrant: Criminal Trespass

Brandon Scott was located at Patterson Police Department and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  He was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Gregory A. Garrett, 36 years of age, Address-Houma, La. was arrested on 05/25/2014 @ 9:45am

Charge: Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     Officers were dispatched to a disturbance near Lake End Park on La. Hwy 70 involving a male and female couple.  Officers arrived and came into contact with Gregory Garrett who was identified as the suspect.  Garrett, upon speaking to officers was found to possess suspected marijuana and items of paraphernalia.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Todd Johnson, 34 years of age, Address-Iberia St. New Iberia, La. was arrested on 05/25/2014 @ 4:20pm

Charge: Driving Under Suspension

 

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of La. Hwy 70 and detained the vehicle to speak with the driver.  The driver, Todd Johnson was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license after he could not produce a valid drivers license.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Francisco J. Gonzales, 40 years of age, Address-Fourth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/25/2014 @ 8:00pm

Charge: Domestic Abuse Battery; Appearing in an Intoxicated Condition; Resisting an Officer by False Information

     Officers were dispatched to a Fourth St. residence regarding a domestic disturbance.  Officers arrived and learnd that a male subject, eventually identified as Francisco Gonzales was in an impaired condition at the residence and had struck a female during an altercation.  The subject, who concealed his true identity to officers during the investigation was arrested.  His true identity was discovered during the booking process and the subject was incarcerated. 

 

 

Juan P. Acosta, 35 years of age, Address-Chennault St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/26/2014 @ 2:11am

Charge: Reckless Operation of a Moving Vehicle; No Drivers License; Switched License Plate; No Insurance

An officer traveling on Victor II Blvd observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner and took evasive action to avoid a collision with the vehicle.  The officer eventually detained the vehicle and it's driver in the area of Martin Luther King Dr. and Victor II Blvd.  The driver, Juan Acosta could not provide a valid drivers license.  His vehicle displayed a switched license plate nor had liability insurance.  Acosta was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

 

Danny R. Robinson, 57  years of age, Address-Hendricks St. Patterson, La. was arrested on 05/26/2014 @ 2:14pm

Charge: Driving Under Suspension

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic fashion and stopped the vehicle near Clothilde St. and Ninth St. The driver, Danny Robinson was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Melvin East, 53 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/26/2014 @ 4:18pm

Charge: Theft of Goods (Under $500.00)

Officers were dispatched to a Highway 182 pharmacy in regards to a shoplifter.  Officers arrived and located Melvin East who according to management had attempted to steal a bottle of alcoholic beverage from the business.  East was arrested, the item recovered.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Shooting Suspect Arrested

Brandon Dewayne Poole

27 years of age, Address-Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 5/22/2014 @ 9:23pm

Charge: Warrant: Attempted First Degree Murder; Assault by Drive By Shooting; Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

     Morgan City Police Detectives have identified a suspect and ultimately made an arrest in a May 20, 2014 shooting which took place in the 900 Block of Cherry St. in Morgan City which left James A. Kenner in serious and guarded condition at a New Orleans hospital with a single gunshot wound to the head.    Investigators were able to gather evidence which implicated Poole in the incident.  Morgan City Detectives secured an arrest warrant for the arrest of Brandon Poole who was located at a residence on Mallard St. in Brownell Homes.  Brandon D. Poole was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated with a bond of $300,000.00.  The investigation is still continuing and may result in additional arrests should the investigation warrant.

Dakota A. Daigle, 21 years of age, Address-Pecan St. , Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/27/2014 @ 4:25pm

Charge: Warrant: Forgery; Warrant: Felony Theft ($500.00)

     Dakota Daigle was located at the Morgan City Police Department and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for forgery and theft.  The warrants were part of an investigation by Morgan City Police Detectives into the theft and forgery of personal checks belonging to the victim which was originally filed with detectives on May 19, 2014.  Daigle was identified as a suspect in the investigation into the theft totalling $500.00.  He was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Kevin L. Shifflett, 33 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/27/2014 @ 9:15pm

Joseph P. Shifflett, 27 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/27/2014 @ 9:25pm

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Heroin; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Warrant: Fugitive-Probation and Parole

Narcotics Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department learned of outstanding warrants for both Kevin Shifflett and Joseph Shifflett.  Detectives located a vehicle occupied by the subjects on Highway 182 in Morgan City and detained the vehicle.  At the time of their arrests, both subjects were found to possess a Schedule I CDS-Heroin along with items of paraphernalia.  They were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.  The subjects were booked and remain incarcerated. 

 

 

Cregory L. Johnson, 22 years of age, Address-Brashear Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/27/2014 @ 10:01pm

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana (2nd Offense); Warrant: Failure to Pay Fine; Possession of a Legend Drug without a Prescription

A patrolling officer located Cregory Johnson in the area of Brashear Ave. and Florida St. and placed him under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  At the time of his arrest, Johnson was found to possess a prescription medication without a valid prescription.  He was additionally charged. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Joseph Gilchrist, 21 years of age, Address-Elaine St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/28/2014 @ 3:36am

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Pay Probation Fee; Warrant: Probation Violation

Joseph Gilchrist was located at Assumption Parish Detention Center and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; Speeding 36mph/15mph zone

Officers patrolling a school zone area observed a vehicle speeding in the area and clocked the vehicle at 36mph in a 15mph school zone.  The driver of the vehicle, Kierston Johnson was found to be operating a vehicle with a supsended drivers license and was arrested.  She waas transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and released after posting a cash bond. 

 

 

Tanisha L. Wilkerson, 38 years of age, Address-Grace St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/22/2014 @ 3:00pm

Charge: Probation Violation

     Tanisha Wilkerson, who was already incarcerted in the Morgan City Jail facility was booked on an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation.  She was booked and remains incarcerated.

Tanisha L. Wilkerson, 38 years of age, Address-Grace St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/20/2014 @ 2:07pm

Charge: Theft of Goods Under $500.00; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

     Officers were dispatched to a local supermarket located on Brashear Ave. regarding a possible shoplifter.  When officers arrived they were told that employees had observed a female concealing items in a purse.  Upon confronting the suspect, the employees advised that the female fled to the rear of the store, into the warehouse and locked herself in a bathroom.  They advised that they beleived that the suspect was attempting to flush the concealed items down the toilet.  Officers located Tanisha Wilkerson in the bathroom area of the warehouse and detained her for questioning.  Several packs of seafood items were recovered.  The suspect, Tanisha Wilkerson was arrested and also found to possess a pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Benn A. Kunu, 61 years of age, Address-Bowman St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 05/20/2014 @ 4:09pm

Charge: Simple Battery

Officers were dispatched to a Bowman St. residence regarding a subject who had been struck by another subject.  Officers arrived and during the investigation learned that the suspect, Benn Kunu had entered onto the property of another and when asked to leave, struck the victim in the face.  Kunu was located and placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
