The following  persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 07/09/2014:

Charge: No Drivers License; Stop Sign Violation; Possession of Marijuana (Felony); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Nathaniel A. Rollins, 18 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/09/2014 @ 9:15pm

Charge: Possession of Marijuana (Misd); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Gerald Jones, 39 years of age, Address-Highway 182 Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/09/2014 @ 9:15pm

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Appear for Arraignment-Disturbing the Peace; Possession of Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The K-9 Officer with the Morgan City Department, while on patrol observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 182 and Eleventh St.  As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants of the vehicle were observed reaching around inside the vehicle.  The officer identified the driver as Kevin Drexler who could not produce a valid drivers license.  Drexler, appeared extremely nervous.  Drexler initially refused consent to search his vehicle, however a the narcotics canine was used in a search of the exterior of the vehicle.  The narcotics canine displayed signs of the presence of narcotics.  During a search of the interior, officer located suspected marijuana in several locations inside the vehicle along with items of drug paraphernalia.  The occupants, identified as Nathaniel Rollins and Gerald Jones were identified.  Gerald Jones was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  All the subjects were questioned but denied involvement in the narcotics located.  The subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.
