The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 08/22/2014:

 

 

Earl Neal Jr. , 32 years of age, Address-Savanna Rd. Houma, La. was arrested on 08/22/2014 @ 1:22pm

Charge: Warrant: Disturbing the Peace; Warrant: Aggravated Assault on an Officer (2 Counts)

Earl Neal Jr. turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department where he was arrested on outstanding warrants for an incident which took place in Morgan City on August 02, 2014.  In that incident. officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at Lake End Park area in Morgan City.  After officers arrived, they encountered a subject who had entered the water and began to swim away, and threatening suicide.  Officers intervened and attempted to reach the subject by boat, however the subject retreived large rocks from the bottom and according to reports, throw them at the officers who were attempting to aid him.  The subject reportedly then used the rocks in an attempt to strike himself.  The officers were able to retrieve the subject.  He was transported to a medical facility for psychiatric evaluation.  A warrant was secured for his arrest.  He was booked and released after posting a cash bond of $1,500.00. 

 

 

Cory D.  Sims, 36 years of age, Address-St. Charles St. Lake Charles, La. was arrested on 08/23/2014 @ 2:15am

Charge: Possession of Schedule I CDS-Synthetic Marijuana; Improper Lane Usage, Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated 2nd Offense; No Vehicle Registration; Expired Drivers License; Window Tint Violation

     A patrolling officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner near the intersection of Sandra St. and Redwood St. The vehicle made an improper turn from the wrong lane and was stopped by the officer to investigate.   The driver, Cory Sims could not produce a valid drivers license nor vehicle registration.  The officer also observed that the vehicle's windows had tint applied which obscured the inward view of the vehicle.  Cory Sims was found to exhibit signs of impairment.  The officer also located open containers of alcoholic beverage and suspected synthetic marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.  The driver, Sims submitted to a field sobreity test which he did poorly on.  Sims was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.  Sims attempted to maneuver the handcuffs in front of his body and was stopped.  He was further searched and found to be in possession of two more small open containers of suspected synthetic marijuana.  Sims refused the Intoxilyzer 5000 test and was booked and incarcerated.  

 

 

Priscilla M. Lovell, 37 years of age, Address-Southeast Blvd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/23/2014 @ 2:27am

Charge: Entry/Remaining where Forbidden, Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated; Resisting an Officer

     Officers responded to a complaint of a female entering a Seventh St. property after being forbidden.  The female, according to officers was knocking on the windows and doors attempting to enter the residence.  As officers arrived, they observed the subject Priscilla Lovell at a window of the residence.  Upon seeing officers, Lovell fled from the officer after the officer identified himself and ordered her to stop.  Officers searched the area and eventually located Lovell hiding in shrubbery and detained her.  Officers determined that Priscilla Lovell was in an intoxicated condition and placed her under arrest.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Lucas J. Lang, 26 years of age, Address-Timothy Dr. Pierre Part, La. was arrested on 08/23/2014 @ 7:36pm

Charge: Warrant: Failure to Appear-Speeding, Driving Under Suspension, No Insurance ; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Officers were dispatched to the area of La. Highway 70 regarding a reckless driver.  Officers arrived and located the driver at Teche Regional parking lot and identified the driver as Lucas Lang.  While speaking with Lang, it was determined that he was wanted on several outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.  Lang was also found to be in possession of a metal pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Edwin R. Posadas-Vega, 43 years of age, Address-Third St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/23/2014 @ 11:57pm

Charge: Hit & Run Driving; Careless Operation with an Accident; Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated; No Drivers License

     Officers were dispatched to the area of Ditch Ave. and Seventh St. regarding two suspicious vehicles.  Officers arrived in the area and discovered a truck being towed by another in the area and stopped to investigate. The vehicle being removed from the scene was observed to have damage to the front of the vehicle.  Officers located a utility pole and fire hydrant located on Railroad Ave. which had been damaged.  Evidence collected at the scene led officers to determine that the vehicle being removed from the scene had caused the damage.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as Edwin Posadas-Vega was observed to exhibit signs of impairment.  He was not able to complete a field sobriety test due to his impairment and was arrested.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .175g%.  He was booked and incarcerated.

Charge: Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, Resisting an Officer; Warrant: Expired Driver License, Child Restraint, Contempt of Court

Jessica L. Pearce, 25 years of age, Address-Levee Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/24/2014 @ 1:43pm

Charge: Disturbing the Peace by Fighting; Warrant: Probation Violaton

Officers were dispatched to the corner of McDermott and Roderick St. in regards to a disturbance.  Officers arrived to learn that Jessica Pearce and Jody Cubbege, according to witnesses had been involved in a verbal altercation which turned physical when both subjects began to fight.  The subject were also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department and were subsequently arrested.  Jody Cubbege, upon being escorted to the police unit began to become belligerent and had to be physically restrained to be placed in a police unit.  Once at the police department, he had to be placed in a holding cell due to his combative nature.  Both were booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Darrell J. Morrison, 32 years of age, Address-Bourg, La. was arrested on 08/24/2014 @ 9:01pm

Charge: Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated; Speeding 60 mph/ 30 mph zone; Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated

A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Highway 182 and observed the vehicle cross the center line several times, almost causing an accident.  The officer stopped the vehicle and came into contact with the driver, Darrell Morrison who, according to reports, exhibited signs of impairment.  Morrison was provided a field sobriety test in which he failed.  He was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .134g%.  He was booked and incarcerated.

Cory Chapman, 49 years of age, Address-Verdun Lane Franklin, La. was arrested on 08/25/2014 @ 12:58am

Charge: Attempted Theft (Value $15.98); Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (6th Offense); Resisting an Officer; Obstruction of Justice

Officers were dispatched to a Highway 182 convenience store in regards to a shoplifter who was attempting to flee the store.  Officers arrived to observe a vehicle speeding from the scene.  Officers followed the vehicle and observed the vehicle being driven erratically and reckless.  The vehicle was detained near Florence St. and Sixth St. and the driver identified as Kurt Stephens.  Upon investigation, it was learned that the passenger, Cory Chapman had taken flashlights from the store valued at $15.98 and fled, entering the vehicle and screaming for the driver, Kurt Stephens to leave.  Upon detaining Chapman, officers observed him to be in possession of a glass pipe commonly used to consume illegal narcotics.  As officers attempted to secure the item, Chapman began to resist the officers and made attempts to destroy the evidence.  He was subdued and placed in the rear of the police unit.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.
