The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 08/29/2016.

Craig M Free, 30 years of age, Address: Third St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2016 @ 3:19am. 

Charges:  
Domestic Abuse Battery
                  Warrant - Probation Violation

     Officers responded to an address on Railroad Avenue in regard to a reported battery. The officers arrived when they located a female who showed signs of a battery and Criag M Free. The female told officers that she and Free were involved in an argument when Free committed a battery on the female. A warrants check revealed that Free had an acitve arrest warrant through the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Free was arrested for the alleged battery and warrant and was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated. 

Carl C Lewis Jr., 44 years of age, Address: Birch St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 08/29/2016 @ 3:00pm. 

Charges:  Simple Robbery
                  Resisting An Officer
                  Possession of Drug paraphernalia

     Officers responded to a local business on Brashear Avenue in regard to a subject taking money and fleeing the area. The officers arrived and spoke with a subject later identified as the victim of a robbery. The victim told officers that he/she, while in the area of Brasehar Avenue and Fourth Street was approached by a subject who pinned the victim against a wall. The suspected robber then took the victim's money and fled on foot running towards Greenwood Street. A description of the suspected robber was provided when officers located Carl C Lewis Jr. who matched the description in the area. Reports indicated that as officers approached, Lewis fleed from the officers on foot. A foot chase ensued when Lewis was apprehended moments later where Lewis continued to resist officers according to reports. After a short struggle, Lewis was handcuffed when officers located suspected drug paraphernalia on Lewis. Reports indicate that during an investigation, evidence of the alleged robbery was uncovered by the officers. Lewis Jr. was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
