MCPD Arrest Report 10/10/2016
The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 10/07/2016:
Joshua L. Jiles, 27 years of age, Address- Harvey, La. was arrested on 10/07/2016 @ 9:47 am.
Charge: Warrant- Failure to Appear (Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office)
Officers located Joshua Jiles sleeping in the children's park on Roderick St. A warrants check was done Jiles and it was determined that he held an active warrant for the Jeffeson Parish Sheriff's Offices. Jiles was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for bookking and incarceration.
Jacob R. Salley, 39 years of age, Address- First St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/07/2016 @ 8:10 pm.
Charge: Warrant- Failure to Pay Probation Fees
Possession of a Legend Drug (Methocarbamol)
Introduction of Contraband- Penal Institute
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle St. to check on the welfare of an individual. When officers arrived, they made contact with Jacob Salley. A local warrants check was done on Salley and it was determined that he held an active warrant for the Sixth Ward City Court. Salley was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, two pils were found on Salley identified as methocarbamol. Salley was additionally charged with bringing contraband into the jail facility. Salley was then booked and incarcerated.
Kerry Martin, 20 years of age, Address- Garber St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/08/2016 @ 1:22 am.
Charge: Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense

Bicycle Lamps Required
An officer patrolling the area of Federal Ave. and Garber St., observed an individual on a bicycle with no front light. The officer attempted make contact with the indivdual, but he jumped off the bike and began to flee from the officer, but was subdued a short time later. The individual was identified as Kerry Martin. A warrants check was done on Martin and it was determined that held active warrants for both the 16th Judicial District Court and the Sixth Ward City Court. Officers also located suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics on Martin. Martin was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Nelson K. Talbert, 32 years of age, Address- Lili St. Labadieville, La. was arrested on 10/08/2016 @ 1:55 pm.
Charge: Driving While Intoxicated- Child Endangerment

Red Light Violation
A patrol officer in the area of Federal and Brashear Ave., observed a vehicle proceed through a red traffic signal. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Nelson Talbert was asked to exit the vehicle. The officer also asked Talbert to produce a valid driver's license. Talbert's driver's license was expired. While speaking to Talbert, the officer observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and person. The officer also noticed five small children in the vehicle and none were in seat belts. Their ages ranged from 10 to 3 years old. Talbert was the asked to perform the Standard Field Soberity Test, which he preformed poorly. Talbert was then placed under arrest. The children were released to a guardian. Talbert was transported to the Morgan City Police Department, once at the police department, Talbert submitted to the chemical test for intoxication and yielded a result of .166 g% blood alcohol content. Talbert was booked and incarcerated.
Jacob N. Klenert, 22 years of age, Address- South Everett St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 10/10/2016 @ 12:47am.
Charge: Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense
A patrol officer in the area of Cottonwood St., observed an individual on a bicycle and once he noticed the officer began to pedal faster. The officer was able to make contact with the individual, identified as Jacob Klenert. Klenert gave the officer consent to pat him down. The officer located suspected marijuana on Klenert. Klenert was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
