The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 11/09/2016.

Alyssa Acosta, 24 years of age, Address: Eighth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2016 @ 8:30am.


Charges:  Possession of Marijuana
                 Possession of  Schedule II CDS (Hydrocodone)
                 Possession of Schedule IV  CDS (Alprozolam)

          An officer responded to a residence on Everett Street in regard to two suspicious subjects entering the yard. The officer arrived and located two females inside a shed  in the back yard one being identified as Alyssa Acosta. During an investigation, reports indicate that Acosta was suspected be involved in illegal drug activity.  The officer located suspected marijuana near Acosta's location in the shed which Acosta admitted to the officer belonged to her. Acosta was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where a more thorough search was conducted. During the search the officer located suspected hydrocodone and alprazolam. Acosta was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.

Edward J Williams, 36 years of age, Address: Freret St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 11/09/2016 @ 12:15pm.

Charges:  Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
                 Resisting An Officer
                 Sexual Battery

     An officer responded to a local convenience store on Hwy 182 in regard to a reported battery. The officer arrived and spoke with the victim and witness to the incident. The officer was told that Edward J Williams went into the store when he approached the victim and touched her in a sexual manner. Evidence of the alleged battery was obtained by the officer and a description of Williams was provided. The officer located Williams in the area moments later who according to reports was suspected to have been drinking and was believed to be intoxicated. Williams was placed under arrest when he began to resist the officer according to report. After a short struggle, Williams was placed into handcuffs and transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
