The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning on 12/21/2016:

Cassie Vinning, 27 years of age, Address- Faith St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 12/21/2016 @ 3:53 pm.

Charge: Warrant - Theft under $750.00
                 Warrant-Forgery

  Cassie Vinning was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrants stem from an incident in September, where it is alleged that Vinning had stolen items from a residence and had forged several checks. Vinning was booked and incarcerated.


Scott M. Henry, 35 years of age, Address- Teche Rd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 12/21/2016 @ 4:31 pm.

Charge:  Possession of Legend Drug
                No Turn Signal
                Possession of Schedule IV CDS Tramadol Hydrocloride

   A patrol officer in the area of Hwy 182 and Grizzaffi St., observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal, while turning onto Grizzaffi St. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Scott Henry was asked to produce a valid driver's license. During the course of the investigation, Henry gave the officer consent to search his vehicle. The officer located several pills identified as Tramadol Hydrocloride and Clonazepam. Henry did not have a prescription for any of  the medication. Henry was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.


Denver Chapman, 24 years of age, Address- Village Lane Morgan City, La. was arrested on 12/22/2016 @ 4:25 am.

Charge:  Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
                Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drugs
                Violation of Uniform CDS- Drug Free Zone

  Officers responded to a residence on Bowman St. regarding an individual knocking on the door. When officers arrived, they observed an individual fleeing from the residence on foot. The individual identified as Denver Chapman was apprehended, a short time later. Officers located on Chapman several pieces of suspected crack cocaine in a cellophane bag and a large amount of U.S. Currency totaling over $1000.00.  The area that Chapman was located was within 2000 ft of a church which is a drug free zone. Chapman was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
