🦐🛢️ 91st LOUISIANA SHRIMP & PETROLEUM FESTIVAL - TRAFFIC, PARKING & SAFETY INFORMATION 🛢️🦐
As the 91st Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival gets underway Thursday, September 3, 2026, and continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, Chief Chad M. Adams and the Morgan City Police Department would like to remind residents and visitors about traffic flow, parking restrictions, road closures, and safety measures in and around the festival area.
🚫 LAWRENCE PARK - NO PARKING / LIMITED TRAFFIC
Vehicles WILL NOT be permitted to park around Lawrence Park during the festival.
Traffic around Lawrence Park will also be restricted, with exceptions for authorized festival vendors and residents who live within the affected area.
🛺 NO GOLF CARTS AROUND LAWRENCE PARK
Golf carts will NOT be permitted to operate around Lawrence Park during the festival, EVEN IF THE GOLF CART IS STREET LEGAL.
The only exceptions will be golf carts operated by authorized festival vendors or Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival Board members.
Please plan accordingly and do not attempt to enter the restricted area with a golf cart.
🅿️ NO ON-STREET PARKING
Please be aware of all NO ON-STREET PARKING signs posted in and around the festival grounds.
Vehicles found parked in violation of posted restrictions will be cited and towed.
These restrictions are necessary to maintain safe traffic flow and provide access for emergency vehicles, festival operations, and pedestrians.
🚧 FEDERAL AVENUE ROAD CLOSURE
Federal Avenue underneath the bridge, between Greenwood Street and Brashear Avenue, will be closed to traffic during the festival.
Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes when traveling through the area.
🎉 SUNDAY FESTIVAL PARADE
The Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival Parade will begin Sunday at 3:00 p.m., starting at the intersection of Second Street and Belanger Street.
🚫 NO PARKING WILL BE PERMITTED ANYWHERE ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE.
The parade will begin at Second Street and Belanger Street, travel along Second Street to Everett Street, continue to Sixth Street, and end at Greenwood Street.
Vehicles parked anywhere along the parade route prior to the parade WILL BE TOWED.
We ask residents and visitors to have all vehicles removed from the parade route well in advance so officers can safely secure the route.
🎆 SUNDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS
The annual fireworks display will begin Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. over Berwick Bay.
📻 Tune in to KQKI 95.3 FM for synchronized music during the fireworks display.
👮♂️ PUBLIC SAFETY
Morgan City Police Department officers will be positioned throughout the festival grounds and surrounding areas during the weekend to help ensure the safety of everyone enjoying the festivities.
With the large number of visitors expected in Morgan City, we ask everyone to remain aware of their surroundings and remember:
