MCPD Arrest Report 2/27/2020
Chief James F. Blair reports that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 45 calls of service. The following person(s) were arrested as the result beginning on 2/26/2020:
Michael S. Dodd, 46 years of age, Address-Fourth St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 7:10 A.M.
Charge: Simple Assault
Officers were called to a Park Road residence for a disturbance. When officers arrived, they learned Michael Dodd attempted to commit a battery on the complainant. Dodd was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Jonathan Wayne Ashley, 31 years of age, Address-Ninth St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 9:45 A.M.
Warrant: Violation of a Protective Order
Jonathan W. Ashley turned himself in on an active warrant held by the Morgan City Police Department. He was booked and incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department.
Margaret Bergeron, 32 years of age, Address-Filmore St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 2:51 P.M.
Charge: Theft under $1,000.00
Officers were called to a local business on Seventh St. about a theft. When officers arrived, they learned from witnesses Margeret Bergeron had concealed merchandise in her purse while in the store. Officers were able to locate and place Bergeron under arrest at the store. She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Joynique Phillips, 23 years of age, Address-Leona St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 5:06 P.M.
Warrant: Failure to Appear (7 Counts) Telephone Harassment
Joynique Phillips was located at the Morgan City Police Department and placed under arrest on active warrants held by the City Court of Morgan City and 16th District Court. She was booked and incarcerated.
Bereda Ann Ruffin, 65 years of age, Address-Eleventh St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 5:24 P.M.
Warrant: Theft of Goods (2 Counts)
Failure to Appear
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Eleventh St. for a disturbance. When officers arrived, they came into contact with Bereda Ruffin. A warrant check revealed the Morgan City Police Department held an active warrant for two counts of theft of goods and the 16th District Court held an active warrant for failure to appear. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Alicia Rae Bertrand, 35 years of age, Address-Cremo Lane, Patterson, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 5:25 P.M.
Charge: Remaining after Forbidden
Theft under $1,000.00
Warrant: Failure to Appear
Officers were called to a local business on Highway 182, about Alicia R. Bertrand trespassing on the property. When officers arrived, they learned she had been previously barred from the property. During the investigation, officers located serval items of merchandise concealed in her purse. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
Dashawn Alexzander Moore, 24 years of age, Address-Colorado River Blvd., Reno, Nv., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 11:44 P.M.
Charge: Resisting an Officer-False Information

Brent A. Green, 24 years of age, Address-Freret St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on 2/26/2020 at 11:44 P.M.

Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)
Warrant: Failure to Appear (3 Counts)
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Everett St. and Highway 182. During the traffic stop, two of the passengers gave the officer a false name. During the traffic investigation, their true identifies were discovered and were identified as Dashawn Moore and Brent Green.
A warrant check revealed the 16th District Court held three active warrants for Dashawn Moore. It also revealed the 16th District Court and the City Court of Morgan City held active warrants for Brent Green. Both Green and Moore were placed under arrest. During Greens' arrest, officers located suspected marijuana in his possession. Green and Moore were transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
