Arrest Report 07/16/2014

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 07/15/2014:

 

 

Donna L. Sobers, 57 years of age, Address-Pershing St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/15/2014 @ 7:18pm

Charge: Hit & Run w/Accident

     Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident in the area of Sixth St.  When officers arrived they learned that a juvenile riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle.  The complainant and juvenile advised that the driver looked at the juvenile and then left the scene.  A description of the vehicle was provided.  Investigating officers were able to identify a possible suspect in the incident and ultimately located the vehicle and suspect who was then questioned.  Donna Sobers, who was identified as the driver admitted to officers that she was involved in the accident.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and released after posting a cash bond. 

 

 

Shina D. Short, 31 years of age, Address-Fourth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/15/2014 @ 11:31pm

Charge: Possession of Open Container of Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting in the area of Freret St. and Federal Ave. and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Shina Short was identified and found to be in possession of open containers of alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.  She was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Joshua D. Robertson, 22years of age, Address-Railroad Ave. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/16/2014 @ 2:01am

Charge: Stop Sign Violation; No Drivers License

 

Taj M. Broussard, 17 years of age, Address-Texas St. Lafayette, La. was arrested on 07/16/2014 @ 2:01am

Charge: Resisting an Officer

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a stop sign near the intersection of Freret St. and Federal Ave. and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joshua Robertson.  Robertson could not provide a valid driver license to the officer.  As the officer was speaking with Robertson, a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Taj Broussard, exited the vehicle despite officers commands and began to flee on foot from the scene.  Officers pursued Broussard as he entered into a nearby residence.  He was apprahended inside the residence and placed under arrest.  During the subsequent investigation, a narcotics canine was utilized in a search of the vehicle which uncovered suspected marijuana, a controlled substance.  The evidence was recovered and seized for analysis.  The subjects were arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated.  Further charges may follow pending the results of a crime lab examination.
