Arrest Report 07/21/2014

The following persons were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 07/18/2014:

 

 

Darrell J. Sides, 39 years of age, Address-Keith St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/18/2014 @ 7:05pm

Charge: Appearing in Public Intoxicated 

Darrell Sides was located on Highway 182 after officers received a complaint of an intoxicted subject in the area.  Sides, who appeared highly in intoxicated was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Rodrick Anthony Hunter, 22 years of age, Address-Shady Grove Patterson, La. was arrested on 07/18/2014 @ 10:21pm

Charge: Warrant: Theft of Goods (Under $500.00); Warrant: Theft Under $500.00; Warrant: St. Mary Parish-Failure to Compy with Conditions of Drug Court-3 Counts; Warrant: Patterson PD-Sagging Pants Violation

Rodrick Hunter was located at a Belanger St. address in Morgan City and placed under arrest on several outstanding warrants for local agencies.  He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Michelle A. Brown, 42 years of age, Address-Fifth St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/18/2014 @ 11:34pm

Charge: Battery on a Police Officer; Resisting an Officer

A Morgan City Police officer was dispatched to a Fifth St. residence regarding a disturbance.  An officer arrived at the residence to encounter a female, Michelle Brown screaming obscenities and throwing clothing from the front door of the residence.  As the officer approached, Brown began to scream at the officer and  started pushing her finger towards his face.  The officer backed up and ordered Brown to cease at which time she again lunged at the officer, using her hands to scratch the eyes and facial area of the officer.  Brown began to shout threats towards the officer as she continued to resist.  She was subdued and placed into handcuffs.  Brown was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.  

 

 

Ysonde T. Williams, 35 years of age, Address-Mallard St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/19/2014 @ 5:22pm

Charge: Warrant: Theft of Utility Services

Ysonde Williams was located at a Brownell Homes residence and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

William Smith, 56 years of age, Address-Berwick, La. was arrested on 07/20/2014 @ 3:04pm

Charge: Simple Assault

Officers were dispatched to an address in the 300 block of Second St. in regards to a disturbance.  Officers arrived to investigate and learned after speaking to the victim and witness that William Smith had came to the residence and began to threaten the complainant.  Officers located Smith at a nearby residence and based on statements, arrested Smith.  William Smith was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Jamichael D. Bowie, 24 years of age, Address-Fourth St. Berwick, La. was arrested on 07/20/2014 @ 8:16am

Charge: Warrant: Theft Under $300.00

Jamichael Bowie was transported to the Morgan City Police Department from Berwick Police Department and booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.  He was booked and incarcerated. 

 

 

Dantrell I. Garrett, 25 years of age, Address-Victor II Blvd. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/20/2014 @ 10:01pm

Charge: Failure to Properly Signal Turn; Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Schedule II CDS-Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Possession or Carrying of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; Taking Contraband into a Penal Institution; Possesson of Schedule III CDS-Hydrocodone; Possession of Schedule III CDS-Xanax

     An officer with the Morgan City Police Department observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn in the area of Second St. and Railroad Ave. and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  The driver, Dantrell Garrett could not produce a drivers license and was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.  Garrett, continued his suspicous behavior and refused officers request to search his vehicle for contraband and/or weapons.  A narcotics canine was used in a sweep of the exterior of the vehicle which caused the canine to indicate the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics at the vehicle.  Officers subsequently searched the vehicle, located a handgun, suspeced crack cocaine and a scale commonly used to weigh narcotics for sale.  The items were seized and the subject was arrested.  Garrett, who had been previously convicted on felony charges which prohibited the possession of the firearm was asked if he possessed any other narcotics when he was arrested.  The subject denied any possession, however, once the subject was transported to the Morgan City Jail facility was found to be in possession of marijuana and additonal cocaine which he had hidden in his pants. This was seized and the investigation continued.  Based on evidence and statements, a search warrant was obtained for Garrett's residence.  Narcotics Detectives who executed the search warrant were able to recover additional suspeced marijuana and cocaine from the residence along with Schedule III CDS-Hydrocodone and Xanax.   Dantrell Garrett was booked and remains incarcerated. 

 

 

Mykella L. Johnson, 27 years of age, Address-Joseph St. Morgan City, La. was arrested on 07/21/2014 @ 12:34am

Charge: Simple Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce; Possession of Schedule I CDS-Marijuana; Possession of Schedule III-CDS-Xanax

A patrolling officer observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection near Highway 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and stopped the vehicle to investigate.  As the officer approached the driver, Mykella Johnson, he observed what appeared to be a small celophane bag protruding from her shirt near her breast area.  The officer confronted th driver about the article as Johnson attempted to turn and conceal the item.  A female officer was able to retrieve the item and discovered it to be marijuana a controlled substance.  Ms. Johnson was placed under arrest.  Johnson was also found to be in possession of Xanax, another controlled substance and was additionally charged.  She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.
